Audi A6 ADAS Calibration

Your Audi A6's zFAS module was replaced after undercarriage damage – now Adaptive Cruise Assist, Pre Sense, Active Lane Assist, and Side Assist are all flagging faults. The A6 C8 routes every ADAS sensor through the centralised zFAS controller (J1121), and when that module is swapped, every system it manages needs recalibrating from scratch.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi A6

The A6 has two distinct ADAS architectures depending on the generation:

C7 (2011–2018):

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – available on SE and above, standalone radar behind front grille
  • Audi Pre Sense Front – automatic emergency braking, separate from ACC
  • Active Lane Assist – windscreen camera, optional on higher trims
  • Each system operates independently – faults are isolated to the affected sensor

C8 (2018+):

  • Full Pre Sense suite – Pre Sense Front, Pre Sense City, Pre Sense Rear all standard
  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – standard, radar behind grille badge
  • Active Lane Assist – standard, windscreen-mounted camera
  • Side Assist + Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – rear radar sensors in bumper quarters
  • Night Vision Assistant – infrared camera on Vorsprung and optional on S line (A6, A7, A8 only)
  • zFAS module (J1121) – centralised ADAS controller processing data from every sensor. This is the A6's defining ADAS complexity.

On the C8, the zFAS sits in the boot area and coordinates radar, camera, ultrasonic, and infrared inputs. When it's replaced – due to water damage, collision, or electrical failure – every connected system requires fresh calibration targets and alignment procedures.

When Your Audi A6 Needs ADAS Recalibration

zFAS Module Replacement

The most technically demanding A6 calibration scenario. If the zFAS module has been swapped, all ADAS systems connected to it need recalibrating – radar, windscreen camera, parking sensors, and Night Vision (if equipped).

"My Audi A6 2021 was previously damaged underneath, and the original ECU (J1121 / zFAS module) was affected... I purchased a replacement module with the same part number." – Audi A6 owner, Kent

Even a like-for-like zFAS replacement requires full recalibration – the new module has no stored calibration data for your specific vehicle's sensor positions. Our Full System Reset covers the complete zFAS scope in a single session.

After Collision or Bumper Repair

The C8's front radar sits behind the grille badge, and the rear sensors are embedded in the bumper. Front or rear-end repairs that disturb either set require recalibration – and on the C8, both feed through the zFAS, so a single impact can trigger faults across multiple systems.

Audi A6 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Audi A6 C8 owners with a replaced zFAS module need our £499 Full System Reset – it recalibrates every ADAS system the controller manages in a single session. For single-sensor issues on C7 models, £349 covers radar or camera recalibration.

Audi A6 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi A6

All of them. The zFAS (J1121) processes data from the front radar, windscreen camera, ultrasonic parking sensors, and Night Vision camera (if equipped). A replacement module ships with no stored calibration data — every sensor needs realigning to your A6's specific mounting positions. This is specialist work that most independent garages — even dedicated Audi specialists — lack the equipment to perform.
