Manufacturer schedules and when to book How Long Does ADAS Calibration Take? Typical durations per service and what affects them
The BMW 3 Series has gone through a significant ADAS evolution between generations – and which systems your car has depends on whether you're driving an F30 (2012–2019) or a G20 (2019+). The F30 offered Driving Assistant as an optional extra, meaning many on UK roads have limited ADAS hardware. The G20 made Driving Assistant standard across all trims, with Professional available on most specs. This generation gap matters because the calibration requirements – and the symptoms when something goes wrong – are different.

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the BMW 3 Series
The G20 (2019+) has Driving Assistant as standard on every trim — including Front Collision Warning, AEB, and Lane Departure Warning. The F30 (2012–2019) offered these as optional extras, so not all F30s have ADAS systems. The radar position also changed: F30 uses a lower bumper-mounted radar; G20 uses a kidney grille-mounted radar. Both need professional calibration after repair.
