BMW X3 ADAS Calibration

If your BMW X3's Active Cruise Control won't engage after a front bumper repair, the radar sensor behind the kidney grille is almost certainly out of alignment. The X3's SUV ride height puts its front radar and grille at a different impact angle to saloon models like the 3 Series – low-speed car park contact can shift the sensor without leaving visible damage.

ADAS Systems on the BMW X3

G01 (2018–2023): Driving Assistant comes standard, including Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Info. Active Cruise Control is part of the optional Driving Assistant Professional package – many G01 X3s on UK roads have the basic suite but not radar-based cruise control. The forward camera sits behind the windscreen near the rearview mirror, and the front radar is integrated into the lower kidney grille area.

G45 (2024+): Driving Assistant Professional is standard on most trims, adding Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Change Assistant, and Parking Assistant Plus with 360-degree cameras. The G45 added side radar units behind the rear bumper for Blind Spot Detection.

Why Your BMW X3 Might Need ADAS Calibration

After Bumper Repair

The X3's front radar sits low in the grille area. A bumper replacement or grille refit after paintwork can shift the sensor enough to disable ACC. If Active Cruise Control stops engaging, the radar needs recalibrating.

After Windscreen Replacement

The forward camera controls Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info, and Front Collision Warning. When the glass is replaced, the camera position shifts – many windscreen providers can't complete BMW-specific camera calibration. If your windscreen company couldn't finish the job, we handle it.

Post-Collision Multi-System Faults

A front-end collision can disturb the radar, camera, and parking sensors simultaneously. If your dashboard shows multiple Driving Assistant faults after accident repair, a single collision calibration session realigns everything.

BMW X3 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The X3's SUV ride height puts its front sensors in a common impact zone – if Driving Assistant failed after a grille or bumper job, radar calibration at £349 covers up to three sensor systems in one session.

BMW X3 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the BMW X3

Yes. Even base-spec G01 X3s with Driving Assistant (not Professional) have Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning, both relying on the windscreen-mounted camera. After a windscreen replacement, the camera needs recalibrating regardless of whether your X3 has ACC.
