BYD Atto 3 ADAS Calibration

The Atto 3 was BYD's UK launch model – the first vehicle to introduce British drivers to BYD's proprietary sensor hardware and e-Platform 3.0 architecture. If your Atto 3's Adaptive Cruise Control or Lane Keep Assist has stopped working after a bumper repair or windscreen replacement, the in-house sensors need recalibration with BYD-specific equipment that most garages do not carry.

ADAS Systems on Your BYD Atto 3

The Atto 3 (2023+ UK) comes with the full DiPilot suite as standard across both Design and Excellence trims:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) – front radar and camera working together to detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) – BYD's adaptive cruise, using the front millimetre-wave radar behind the bumper emblem
  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD) – rear-quarter sensors monitoring adjacent lanes
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB) – active intervention system that brakes if a vehicle approaches while reversing
  • 360° Surround View Camera – four exterior cameras providing a bird's-eye parking view
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – reads speed limits via the forward camera

The Excellence trim adds the 360° camera system. The front radar is integrated behind the front bumper emblem area – BYD manufactures this sensor in-house rather than sourcing from Bosch or Continental.

When Your BYD Atto 3 Needs Recalibration

After a front bumper repair: The Atto 3's front millimetre-wave radar powers both ICC and AEB. Even a minor front-end repair or bumper respray that involves bumper removal shifts the radar alignment. If Intelligent Cruise Control has stopped maintaining distance or AEB warnings appear on the dashboard, recalibration is needed.

After windscreen replacement: The forward camera behind the rearview mirror controls LKA, LDW, and TSR, and contributes to AEB. Every windscreen replacement on an Atto 3 requires camera recalibration. If your windscreen fitter flagged this but could not complete it, we handle the calibration step.

After rear bumper work: The Atto 3's RCTB is not just a warning – it actively applies the brakes when reversing into danger. If the rear bumper sensors are misaligned after repair, RCTB could brake unexpectedly or fail to protect. This is a safety-critical recalibration.
