The BYD Seal is a performance-oriented sports sedan with BYD's Cell-to-Body technology – and every driver assistance system relies on proprietary sensors that BYD designs and manufactures in-house. ADAS Systems on Your BYD Seal

The Seal (2023+ UK) is built on e-Platform 3.0 with the full DiPilot package:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) – front radar and camera detecting hazards at speeds up to 100 km/h
  • Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) – radar-based adaptive cruise, front sensor behind the bumper
  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen camera behind the rearview mirror
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD) – rear-quarter sensors monitoring adjacent lanes
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB) – active braking when reversing into cross traffic
  • 360° Surround View Camera – four cameras for bird's-eye parking
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – forward camera reading speed limits
  • Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA) – alerts to crossing traffic at junctions

The Seal's sports sedan profile gives it a low, aerodynamic front end. The front radar is integrated into the bumper area – and the low ride height means the radar sits closer to impact zones than on BYD's SUV models.

Common Calibration Triggers for the BYD Seal

Bumper damage from the low ride height: The Seal's sports sedan stance puts the front bumper at a height vulnerable to speed bumps, parking barriers, and kerb strikes. The front radar powering ICC and AEB is directly affected. If adaptive cruise has stopped responding after bodywork, the radar needs recalibration.

Windscreen replacement: The forward camera handles LKA, LDW, TSR, and FCTA simultaneously. A windscreen replacement on the Seal affects four systems at once – recalibration is mandatory before any of them function again.

Side panel or rear bumper repairs: The Seal's RCTB actively brakes when reversing into danger. Rear bumper work that displaces the rear sensors creates a safety-critical miscalibration. BSD sensors in the rear quarters are also vulnerable to side panel repairs.
