Not yet. NIO targets UK deliveries from 2026. Our workshops are preparing for the Firefly's sensor architecture ahead of launch.

Is the Firefly related to NIO's other models?

Firefly is NIO's budget sub-brand. It uses a bespoke subcompact platform — not shared with NIO's larger ET7, ET5, or EL6 models. The sensor hardware and calibration procedures will be Firefly-specific.

ADAS Systems on Your Firefly EV

The Firefly runs a Horizon Robotics Journey 5 SoC with 128 TOPS of computing power:

Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) – vehicle, pedestrian, and obstacle detection
Forward Collision Warning (FCW) – alert before AEB activation
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – active lane centring
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) – standard stability management

The 20+ sensor array includes a windscreen-mounted camera, surround cameras, and likely front-mounted radar. NIO's over-the-air update approach means additional ADAS features may be unlocked after purchase – dormant sensors could become active through software.

When Your Firefly Will Need Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

The forward camera behind the windscreen powers AEB, FCW, and LKA. Every windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration. Budget car owners often use high-street fitters who lack ADAS calibration equipment – we handle what they cannot.

After Bumper Repair

Front bumper sensors drive collision prevention systems. Budget car pricing means owners may use independent body shops unfamiliar with the Firefly's sensor density. If AEB warnings appeared after bumper work, radar and sensor recalibration is needed.

As OTA Updates Unlock Features

NIO may unlock additional ADAS capabilities through software updates. Dormant sensors could become safety-critical – and when they do, they need to be correctly calibrated.
