Ford Fiesta ADAS Calibration

Ford discontinued the Fiesta in 2023 – but with millions still on UK roads, it remains one of the country's most common cars needing ADAS calibration. The Mk8 (2017–2023) has Pre-Collision Assist and Lane-Keeping Alert as standard, and both depend on a windscreen-mounted camera that requires recalibration after glass replacement or front-end repairs.

ADAS Systems on the Ford Fiesta

The Fiesta Mk8 (2017–2023) carries a focused ADAS setup – fewer systems than the Focus or Kuga, but the ones it has still require precision calibration:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with AEB – the forward-facing camera detects vehicles and pedestrians. On the Fiesta, this system is camera-only on base models – no front-mounted radar. Higher trims (Vignale, ST-Line X) add a radar behind the lower grille for enhanced detection range.
  • Lane-Keeping Alert – the windscreen camera monitors lane markings and provides steering correction. Simpler than the Focus's Lane-Keeping System – it alerts rather than actively centres.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – reads speed limit signs via the windscreen camera. Goes offline if the camera is disturbed.
  • Auto High-Beam – camera-based automatic headlight switching.

The Fiesta Mk7 (2008–2017) predates meaningful ADAS – no calibration typically required unless aftermarket systems were fitted.

Key difference from other Fords: The Fiesta relies more heavily on the windscreen camera and less on radar than the Focus, Kuga, or Puma. This means windscreen replacement is the most common calibration trigger, while bumper repairs are less likely to affect ADAS unless the car has the optional front radar.

Common ADAS Triggers for Fiesta Owners

After windscreen replacement

The Fiesta's ADAS is almost entirely camera-dependent. A windscreen swap that doesn't include camera recalibration leaves Pre-Collision Assist, Lane-Keeping, and Traffic Sign Recognition disabled. If your windscreen fitter couldn't complete the calibration, we handle it at our workshops nationwide.

After a front-end collision or Cat S/N purchase

The Fiesta is one of the UK's most common Cat S and Cat N vehicles due to its high volume and relatively low repair costs. If you've bought a salvage Fiesta and Pre-Collision Assist or Lane-Keeping isn't working, the camera almost certainly needs recalibrating – not replacing.

"The Ford Fiesta may be discontinued, but its ADAS systems still need looking after – especially after windscreen replacement, which is the single most common calibration trigger for this model."

Ford Fiesta ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Ford Fiesta

Base models are camera-only — the forward-facing windscreen camera handles Pre-Collision Assist and Lane-Keeping. Higher trims (Vignale, ST-Line X) add a small radar behind the lower front grille for extended ACC range. Either way, calibration is needed after any repair that disturbs these sensors.
