Ford Galaxy ADAS Calibration

Seven seats, a long wheelbase, and a full ADAS sensor suite – the Ford Galaxy carries the same radar and camera hardware as the Mondeo, but in a larger MPV body that changes how and when sensors get disturbed. If your Galaxy's Pre-Collision Assist or Adaptive Cruise Control stopped working after a repair, the radar behind the front grille needs recalibrating before the school run or the family trip.

ADAS Systems on the Ford Galaxy

The Galaxy Mk4 (2015–2023) shares Ford's CD platform with the Mondeo and S-MAX:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with AEB – forward camera and radar detect vehicles and pedestrians. The radar mounts behind the Ford badge on the front grille, identical to the Mondeo's position.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go – radar-dependent distance management. Standard on Titanium and Vignale trims.
  • Lane-Keeping System – windscreen-mounted camera tracks lane markings. Active lane-keeping (steering correction) added from the 2019 facelift.
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert – rear bumper radar sensors for blind spot detection. Particularly important on the Galaxy, where three rows of seats limit rear visibility.
  • Active Park Assist 2.0 – ultrasonic sensors for automated parking. The Galaxy's larger footprint makes parking more sensor-dependent.

The Galaxy's MPV body sits higher and wider than the Mondeo. The taller rear section means BLIS sensors have a different detection angle – body shops should not assume identical calibration parameters between the two models.

Why Your Ford Galaxy Might Need Calibration

After front-end or car park damage

MPVs spend more time in school drop-off zones and tight car parks than most vehicles. Low-speed bumps to the front bumper shift the radar behind the grille badge – Pre-Collision Assist and ACC stop functioning until the sensor is recalibrated. The damage doesn't need to be visible for the alignment to be off.

After windscreen replacement

The Galaxy's large windscreen is prone to stone chips on motorway miles. A replacement without camera recalibration leaves Lane-Keeping, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Pre-Collision Assist disabled. If your windscreen fitter couldn't complete the camera calibration, we handle it.

Galaxy owners typically need windscreen calibration (£199) after glass replacement or radar calibration (£349) after bumper work – no hidden diagnostic charges.

Ford Galaxy ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Ford Galaxy

The Galaxy and Mondeo share the CD platform with identical sensor types in similar positions. The key difference is the Galaxy's taller, wider body, which changes BLIS detection angles and requires model-specific calibration parameters. We also calibrate the Ford Focus and Ford Kuga — see all Ford models.
