Ford Kuga ADAS Calibration

Ford calls it Co-Pilot360 – and the Kuga Mk3 (2020 onwards) gets the full package, including Evasive Steering Assist that most other Fords don't carry. That means more sensors, more calibration points, and more that can go wrong after a collision or repair. If your Kuga's Pre-Collision Assist or Adaptive Cruise Control has stopped working after bodywork, the radar and camera systems need recalibration.

ADAS Systems on the Ford Kuga

The Kuga Mk3 (2020+) carries Ford's most comprehensive Co-Pilot360 configuration for a mainstream model:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with AEB – forward-facing camera and radar working together. The radar sits behind the Ford oval on the front grille.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centring – the Kuga adds lane centring to the ACC package, keeping the vehicle centred in its lane during cruise. Both radar and camera dependent.
  • Evasive Steering Assist – unique to higher-spec Fords. Works alongside Pre-Collision Assist to steer around obstacles when braking alone won't avoid a collision. Camera and radar both involved.
  • BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert – rear bumper radar sensors for blind spot and reversing situations.
  • Active Park Assist 2.0 – ultrasonic sensors guide automated parking manoeuvres.

The earlier Kuga Mk2 (2013–2019) has a simpler setup – Pre-Collision Assist and Lane-Keeping Alert without the full Co-Pilot360 branding. The Mk2 lacks Evasive Steering Assist and lane centring, but its windscreen camera and basic radar still require calibration after repairs.

Why Your Ford Kuga Might Need Calibration

After a front-end collision or minor bump

SUVs like the Kuga sit higher than hatchbacks, and the front bumper is more exposed in car park collisions and low-speed impacts. The radar behind the grille badge shifts with any bumper movement. Even a minor repair that didn't trigger airbags can misalign the radar sensor, disabling Pre-Collision Assist and ACC.

After windscreen replacement

The Kuga's forward camera behind the rearview mirror controls Lane-Keeping, Traffic Sign Recognition, and the camera side of Evasive Steering Assist. If your windscreen was replaced but these systems aren't functioning, the camera needs recalibration.

"If your Ford Kuga's Adaptive Cruise Control stopped holding distance after a front-end repair, the grille-mounted radar is almost certainly misaligned – recalibration restores it without replacing any parts."

Ford Kuga ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Ford Kuga

The Kuga Mk3 (2020+) in higher-spec trims includes Evasive Steering Assist as part of Co-Pilot360. It uses both the forward camera and radar, so if either sensor is disturbed by a repair, Evasive Steering needs recalibrating alongside Pre-Collision Assist. We also calibrate the Ford Focus and Ford Transit Custom — see all Ford models.
