Ford Mondeo ADAS Calibration

Adaptive Cruise Control holding steady on the motorway one day, then suddenly refusing to engage after a minor front-end repair – that's the most common Mondeo scenario we see. The Mk5 Mondeo (2014–2022) was Ford's flagship saloon and estate, and it carried a full sensor suite years before the Co-Pilot360 branding existed. If your Mondeo's radar or camera systems went dark after bodywork, recalibration brings them back.

ADAS Systems on the Ford Mondeo

The Mondeo Mk5 (2014–2022) was one of the first mainstream Fords with a comprehensive ADAS setup:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with AEB – forward-facing camera and radar detect vehicles and pedestrians. The radar mounts behind the Ford oval badge on the front grille – identical positioning to the Focus and Kuga.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go – radar-dependent distance keeping that brakes to a full stop in traffic. Standard on Titanium and Vignale trims, optional on Zetec.
  • Lane-Keeping System – windscreen-mounted camera tracks lane markings. The Mondeo received active lane-keeping (steering correction) on the 2019 facelift, earlier cars had alert-only.
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert – rear bumper radar sensors particularly useful on the estate body, where rear visibility is more limited.
  • Active Park Assist – ultrasonic sensors for semi-automated parking manoeuvres.

The Mondeo shares Ford's CD platform with the Galaxy and S-MAX – all three use the same radar and camera mounting positions, meaning calibration procedures are closely related. The Mondeo was discontinued in 2022 but remains common on UK roads, especially as a fleet and company car.

When Your Ford Mondeo Needs Recalibration

After bumper repair or replacement

The Mondeo's front radar sits behind the grille badge. Body shops removing the bumper for cosmetic or collision work shift this sensor – Pre-Collision Assist and ACC both go offline. A radar recalibration at our fixed £349 rate restores both systems without replacing any hardware.

After windscreen replacement

Lane-Keeping, Traffic Sign Recognition, and the camera side of Pre-Collision Assist depend on the forward camera behind the rearview mirror. If your windscreen company completed the glass swap but the camera wasn't recalibrated, these systems won't function until we handle it.

Ford Mondeo ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Ford Mondeo

The Mondeo Mk5 predates Co-Pilot360 branding but has equivalent systems — Pre-Collision Assist, ACC, Lane-Keeping, and BLIS. The main difference is that the Mondeo received these features from 2014, while the Focus Mk4 got its full suite from 2018. Calibration procedures for the radar and camera are identical.
