Hyundai Bayon ADAS Calibration

The Hyundai Bayon sits between the i20 and the Kona – a compact crossover built on the same platform as the i20 but with a higher ride height and subtly different front-end geometry. That shared platform means the Bayon uses the same SmartSense sensor positions as the i20, but the raised stance changes the radar's vertical angle, requiring Bayon-specific calibration targets rather than generic i20 settings.

SmartSense Systems on the Hyundai Bayon

The Bayon (BC3 Cross, 2021+) launched as a UK-market crossover with SmartSense as standard on mid-to-upper trims. Its ADAS package sits between the i20 and the Kona in terms of capability.

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – camera-plus-radar AEB covering vehicles and pedestrians. The Bayon has the same FCA hardware as the i20 but benefits from the front radar for longer detection range.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) – radar-based adaptive cruise with stop-and-go. Available on Premium and above trims.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – camera-dependent lane departure correction. Standard on all SmartSense-equipped trims.
  • High Beam Assist (HBA) – automatic switching via the windscreen camera.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) – fatigue monitoring through steering pattern analysis.

The Bayon does not have Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, or Highway Driving Assist – those features are reserved for Hyundai's larger models. Calibration focuses on the forward radar and windscreen camera.

When Your Bayon Needs ADAS Calibration

After windscreen replacement

The Bayon's windscreen camera controls FCA (camera element), LKA, HBA, and DAW. Glass fitting companies regularly replace windscreens on small crossovers without completing the camera calibration – leaving multiple safety features deactivated.

After front bumper work

The Bayon's raised crossover stance positions the front radar slightly higher than on the standard i20. Body shops that treat the Bayon as "just an i20" during bumper repairs may not account for this difference. If Smart Cruise Control and FCA stopped working after a bumper repair, the radar needs recalibration at the Bayon's specific mounting angle.

Hyundai Bayon ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Hyundai Bayon

The Bayon shares the i20's platform and SmartSense hardware, but its crossover ride height changes the radar's vertical angle. Calibration targets are Bayon-specific — a technician can't simply use i20 settings. Our IMI-certified technicians have the correct specifications for both.
