Hyundai i30 ADAS Calibration

You've just collected your Hyundai i30 from the body shop after a front bumper repair – but Smart Cruise Control now shows as unavailable and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist has deactivated. The radar behind the front grille was disturbed during the repair, and it needs professional recalibration before those systems come back online.

SmartSense Systems on the Hyundai i30

The third-generation i30 (PD, 2017+) introduced Hyundai's SmartSense package to the compact hatchback segment. The facelifted PD.2 (2020+) expanded the standard SmartSense features across more trim levels.

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – camera and radar-based AEB. Standard on most PD.2 trims, optional on earlier PD models. The camera is mounted behind the windscreen; the radar sits behind the front bumper.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) – radar-dependent adaptive cruise. Available on mid-to-upper trims. Stop & Go functionality added on PD.2 models.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – camera-based lane departure correction. Standard from 2020 on most trims.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – rear-quarter radar sensors, available on higher trims. Warning and active avoidance on PD.2.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) – monitors steering patterns for fatigue, camera-dependent.

The i30 N-Line and i30 N share the same SmartSense hardware as the standard i30 – sport trims don't alter the ADAS configuration.

Common ADAS Triggers on the Hyundai i30

Windscreen replacement

The i30's forward camera is bonded to the windscreen. If your glass was replaced and the company couldn't recalibrate the SmartSense camera, LKA and the camera element of FCA remain offline. This is the most straightforward calibration we do on the i30 – £199 for windscreen calibration.

Front bumper repair

The forward radar behind the bumper controls SCC and assists FCA. Bumper removal for bodywork, paint, or PDR shifts the sensor alignment. If your cruise control stopped working after a bumper job, radar recalibration is what's needed.

"If your Hyundai i30's Lane Keeping Assist starts giving false warnings or stops correcting after a windscreen swap, the camera angle has shifted. It won't self-correct – it needs recalibration to the manufacturer's specifications."

Hyundai i30 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Hyundai i30

Yes. The i30 N and N-Line use identical SmartSense sensor hardware. Sport suspension and chassis tuning don't affect ADAS calibration requirements — if the bumper or windscreen is disturbed, the same recalibration applies.
