Hyundai Santa Fe ADAS Calibration

If your Hyundai Santa Fe's Smart Cruise Control has stopped responding after bodywork or a windscreen swap, the SmartSense sensors need recalibration. The Santa Fe carries Hyundai's most advanced ADAS package – more sensors than smaller models like the i30 or Kona – and when multiple systems go down after a repair, all of them need to be brought back into alignment.

SmartSense Systems on the Hyundai Santa Fe

The fifth-generation Santa Fe (MX5, 2024+) has the most comprehensive SmartSense suite in Hyundai's UK lineup. The fourth-generation (TM, 2018–2023) also carries a full package on upper trims.

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) 2.0 – on the MX5, FCA includes oncoming vehicle detection and evasive steering assist, going beyond the camera-plus-radar AEB found on other Hyundai models.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Machine Learning – the MX5 Santa Fe's SCC learns the driver's acceleration and braking habits. Still radar-dependent – bumper repair requires recalibration.
  • Highway Driving Assist (HDA) 2 – combines SCC with Lane Following Assist for semi-autonomous motorway driving. Both camera and radar must be precisely aligned for HDA to function.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – rear-quarter radar with active steering intervention on both MX5 and TM.
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) – ultrasonic sensors plus surround-view cameras. Available on MX5 and top-trim TM.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) – rear radar, active braking when reversing.

The Santa Fe's larger body means more sensor mounting points. The forward radar sits behind the front bumper emblem, and the forward camera behind the windscreen – consistent with other Hyundais – but the MX5 adds corner radar sensors for the enhanced FCA evasive steering.

When the Santa Fe Needs ADAS Calibration

After front-end collision or repair

The Santa Fe's size makes it a frequent motorway vehicle, and front-end impacts at speed can affect multiple SmartSense systems simultaneously. If Smart Cruise Control, FCA, and Highway Driving Assist all deactivated after an accident, you likely need a multi-system recalibration rather than just one sensor.

After windscreen replacement

Highway Driving Assist 2 relies on the windscreen camera for lane centring. If a replacement company fitted new glass but couldn't recalibrate, HDA and LFA won't function. We complete the camera calibration they couldn't.

"If your Santa Fe shows multiple SmartSense warnings after a front-end repair – SCC unavailable, FCA deactivated, HDA offline – the forward radar and camera both likely need recalibration. On the MX5, the corner radar sensors may need attention too."

Hyundai Santa Fe ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Hyundai Santa Fe

The MX5 has additional corner radar sensors for evasive steering assist, which means more calibration points after a front-end repair. The core process — forward radar and windscreen camera — is the same, but the MX5 may require a Full System Reset to cover all systems.
