Jaecoo 7 ADAS Calibration

Twenty-one ADAS functions including Rear Cross Traffic Braking – an active system that applies the brakes automatically when reversing into detected traffic. If the rear radar is miscalibrated after a bumper repair, RCTB either brakes when it should not or fails to brake when it should. On a Euro NCAP 5-star SUV that arrived in UK showrooms only months ago, no body shop has experience with this system.

ADAS Systems on Your Jaecoo 7

The J7 carries the full Chery-derived ADAS suite on the T1X platform:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) – pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Front and Rear Collision Warning (FCW/RCW) – bidirectional collision alerts
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – motorway to stop-and-go speeds
  • Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) – semi-autonomous driving in congestion
  • Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA) – Level 2 highway assist combining cruise and lane centring
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) – warns and actively steers back
  • Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) – corrective steering when leaving the road
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD) – adjacent lane monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB) – active braking when reversing
  • Driver Monitoring System (DMS) – facial recognition driver attention tracking
  • Door Opening Warning (DOW) – approaching traffic alert before door opening

Forward camera behind the windscreen. Front radar behind bumper and grille. Rear radar in the rear bumper powers RCW, RCTA, and RCTB. Side sensors in rear quarters handle BSD.

Common J7 Calibration Triggers

After Rear Bumper Repair – Safety-Critical

RCTB is an active intervention system – it brakes the vehicle automatically. The rear radar in the rear bumper powers this alongside RCTA and RCW. A miscalibrated rear radar after bumper work could trigger false emergency braking in car parks or fail to activate when needed. Rear sensor calibration is essential after any rear bumper work.

After Front Bumper Repair

The front radar powering ACC, AEB, and FCW sits behind the grille. Even cosmetic work requiring bumper removal shifts the radar. If Adaptive Cruise Control stopped working after bodywork, the radar needs recalibration.

After Windscreen Replacement

The forward camera drives LDP, ELK, AEB, and the Intelligent Evasion System. Windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration – and on a brand this new, your fitter likely lacks Jaecoo diagnostic tools.

Jaecoo 7 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Jaecoo 7

RCTB is an active system — it applies the brakes automatically when reversing into detected cross traffic, not just a warning. The rear radar powers this. If the rear bumper was repaired or replaced, RCTB calibration is safety-critical. The Jaecoo 5 shares similar Chery group ADAS. See all Jaecoo models
