Jaguar XJ ADAS Calibration

Jaguar's flagship saloon carries a full suite of driver assistance systems – and as a luxury vehicle that's often chauffeur-driven or covers long motorway journeys, the XJ's ADAS systems see daily use. If your XJ's Adaptive Cruise Control or Emergency Braking deactivated after front-end repairs, the front radar behind the lower grille needs recalibration to restore the systems that make the XJ a true grand tourer.

Drive Assist on the Jaguar XJ

The XJ (X351, 2010–2019) was Jaguar's flagship and received ADAS features progressively:

XJ (X351, 2010–2015): Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control optional on Premium Luxury and above trims. The front radar sits behind the lower intake grille. Basic Lane Departure Warning available on later builds. Blind Spot Monitoring optional with the convenience pack.

XJ (X351, 2016–2019 update): More comprehensive ADAS availability – Emergency Braking became standard, ACC with Steering Assist widened across the range. Lane Keep Assist replaced the warning-only system. Blind Spot Assist with Rear Traffic Monitor standard on Portfolio and above.

Key XJ detail: The XJ's long aluminium body and extended wheelbase variants (LWB) mean greater distances between front and rear sensors. The front radar behind the grille calibrates identically to other JLR models, but the rear Blind Spot Assist sensors are positioned further from the vehicle's centre line on the LWB, which affects rear calibration target placement.

When Your XJ Needs ADAS Calibration

After collision or front-end repair: The XJ's front end is complex aluminium construction. Collision repair often involves significant disassembly, and the radar sensor behind the lower grille is displaced during this process. Both Emergency Braking and ACC deactivate. Because the XJ is a premium vehicle, insurers and body shops frequently refer ADAS calibration to specialists – which is where we come in.

Windscreen replacement: The XJ's windscreen-mounted camera handles Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Driver Condition Monitor. After windscreen replacement, static camera recalibration is required. The XJ's large windscreen makes for a more complex glass fitting, increasing the likelihood of camera position change.

Ageing fleet considerations: The XJ ended production in 2019. As these vehicles age, they enter the second and third ownership market where repair history is less certain. If you've purchased a used XJ and the ADAS systems aren't engaging, they may not have been recalibrated after previous repairs.

Jaguar XJ ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Jaguar XJ

The XJ ended production in 2019, but the ADAS sensor technology and calibration procedures are fully supported by JLR diagnostic equipment. Our technicians use OEM-grade tools that cover the entire X351 generation. As long as the sensors are physically intact, we can recalibrate them. See all Jaguar models we calibrate.
