Kia Picanto ADAS Calibration

The Picanto is Kia's smallest car – but the latest generation carries Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist that depend on a windscreen-mounted camera. Replace the glass on a 2021+ Picanto and those systems go offline until the camera is recalibrated. From £199.

ADAS Systems on the Kia Picanto

The Picanto (JA, 2017+) has a slimmer DriveWise package than Kia's larger models. No front radar on any variant – all ADAS functions rely on the single windscreen camera.

Picanto (2017–2020):

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) – camera-only automatic emergency braking. Available on higher trims only (GT-Line, X-Line).
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – camera-based lane departure warning with gentle steering correction.

Picanto (2021+, facelift):

  • FCA upgraded with pedestrian detection capability.
  • LKA carried over with improved software.
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW) added – monitors steering input patterns.

What the Picanto does NOT have: No SCC, no LFA, no BCA, no rear radar. The Picanto's calibration needs are straightforward – it all comes down to the windscreen camera.

Sensor location: Single forward-facing camera at the rearview mirror bracket. Simplest ADAS configuration in Kia's current UK lineup.

When Your Kia Picanto Needs Calibration

After windscreen replacement

This is the primary trigger for the Picanto. The single camera controls both FCA and LKA. If your windscreen fitter didn't complete the camera recalibration after glass replacement, those systems remain inactive.

After a front-end collision

Even without front radar, a front-end impact can shift the windscreen camera bracket. If FCA warnings appeared after a collision, the camera alignment needs recalibration.

After mirror or camera housing disturbance

The Picanto's camera sits near the rearview mirror mount. If the mirror assembly was removed or knocked during a repair, the camera alignment may have shifted – a mirror reattachment that's slightly off can affect LKA accuracy.

Kia Picanto ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia Picanto

The third-generation Picanto (2017+) has Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist on mid and higher trims. These are camera-based safety systems that require calibration after windscreen replacement. Base-spec Picantos without these features don't need ADAS calibration. See all Kia models
