LEVC TX ADAS Calibration

The LEVC TX has one ADAS characteristic that no other vehicle on UK roads shares: its Autonomous Emergency Braking cannot be turned off. It is permanently active – a regulatory requirement for London-licensed hackney carriages. If that AEB system is misaligned after a bumper repair or windscreen replacement, you cannot simply disable it and drive on. It will either phantom brake in traffic or fail to intervene when it should.

ADAS Systems on Your LEVC TX

The TX taxi carries a focused ADAS suite designed for commercial urban operation:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) – always-on, cannot be disabled. Front camera and radar detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists
  • Forward Collision Warning – visual and audible alert before AEB activates
  • Lane Departure Warning – drift detection on marked roads
  • Road Sign Information System – camera-based speed limit recognition
  • Cruise Control with Speed Limiter – configurable speed cap
  • Emergency Brake Assist – increases braking force during emergency stops
  • Parking Distance Sensors – ultrasonic sensors front and rear

The front camera is windscreen-mounted. The radar is integrated into the front bumper. The TX's extreme 63-degree front wheel turning angle and tight urban manoeuvring mean the front end takes more punishment than any passenger car.

Why TX Taxis Need Calibration More Often

Commercial Duty Cycle

London taxi operation is relentless – kerb-to-kerb manoeuvring, tight turns, constant urban traffic. Bumper scuffs, minor front-end contacts, and windscreen chips are routine. Each one is a potential calibration trigger for the always-on AEB system.

After Bumper Repair

The front bumper houses the radar powering AEB and Forward Collision Warning. Body shops repairing taxis often replace bumpers without knowing the radar needs recalibration. If your TX left the body shop with erratic braking behaviour, the radar is misaligned.

After Windscreen Replacement

Taxi windscreens take more stone chips and replacements than most vehicles. Every windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration – and since AEB cannot be disabled, driving without correct calibration is not an option.

LEVC TX ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the LEVC TX

No. AEB is permanently active on the TX. This is a regulatory requirement for London hackney carriages. If AEB is phantom braking or not functioning correctly, professional recalibration is the only solution.
