ADAS Systems on the Mercedes B-Class

The B-Class (W247, 2018+) carries the same Intelligent Drive package available across the Mercedes compact range:

• DISTRONIC – adaptive cruise control using the front radar behind the grille star badge. Available on Progressive and AMG Line trims; optional on base Sport models.
• Active Brake Assist – automatic emergency braking via front radar and multifunction camera. Standard across all W247 trims.

The B-Class shares its ADAS platform with the A-Class (W177) – same radar location behind the star, same multifunction camera behind the windscreen. The key difference is the B-Class's taller body and larger windscreen area, which means the multifunction camera sits higher. Calibration targets are adjusted accordingly.

The B-Class's upright windscreen and tall roofline make it more exposed to stone chips than lower-profile Mercedes models. If your B-Class has had the front bumper removed for paintwork, dent repair, or collision damage, the radar sensor behind the star badge may have shifted.
