The Mercedes EQS has a very large windscreen — does this make calibration harder?

The larger glass area makes the EQS windscreen more prone to stone chip damage, increasing replacement frequency. The calibration process itself uses the same static target procedure as other Mercedes models — it does not take longer because the glass is larger.

Does the EQS Active Emergency Stop Assist need special calibration?

Active Emergency Stop Assist runs from the same DISTRONIC radar and windscreen camera as the other ADAS systems. It does not require separate sensors or calibration procedures — the standard Full System Reset covers all active safety systems including Emergency Stop Assist.

Can you calibrate the Mercedes EQS SUV as well as the saloon?

Yes. The EQS SUV (X296) carries the same ADAS architecture as the EQS saloon (V297). Calibration procedures and pricing are identical for both body styles.

My EQS was in a minor rear-end collision — do the ADAS sensors need checking?

If the rear bumper was damaged or displaced, the rear radar sensors that run Active Blind Spot Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert should be checked and recalibrated. Even minor rear damage can misalign these sensors enough to cause persistent faults.

The Mercedes EQS flagship electric saloon carries the most complete ADAS suite in the Mercedes range - including DISTRONIC with Map-Based Speed Adaptation, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and the optional Driving Assistance Package Plus with Level 2+ semi-autonomous capability on motorways. The EQS uses a stereo multifunction windscreen camera, multiple radar modules, and ultrasonic sensors. A windscreen replacement on the EQS is a more complex calibration job than most vehicles.

ADAS Systems on the Mercedes EQS

The EQS uses Mercedes' most advanced ADAS architecture across any production model. A stereo multifunction camera at the windscreen, long-range front radar, near-range front radar, rear radar, and side radars all work together. DISTRONIC with map data integration actively uses GPS route information to pre-decelerate for curves and speed limit changes. Active Emergency Stop Assist can autonomously stop the vehicle if driver incapacitation is detected.

The optional Driving Assistance Package Plus (standard on AMG Line and above) extends semi-autonomous capability on approved motorways. Any sensor displacement disables the full suite until recalibration.

When Does the Mercedes EQS Need ADAS Calibration?

After windscreen replacement - stereo camera recalibration required. The EQS's hyperscreen spans the full width of the dashboard - windscreen work on this vehicle is specialist territory and should always include ADAS calibration.
After front bumper or badge work - front radar realignment required.
After side or rear bumper work - respective radar sensors require recalibration.
After any front collision - full sensor recalibration plus battery system check recommended given the EQS's large front-mounted battery pack.
