Mercedes GLA ADAS Calibration

The Mercedes GLA compact SUV - in both first (2013-2020) and second generation (2020+) - carries Mercedes DISTRONIC and Active Brake Assist using a combination of radar and a multifunction camera bonded to the windscreen. On the second-generation GLA, the camera and radar work together as a combined sensor system behind the windscreen, making this one of the more calibration-sensitive vehicles in the Mercedes range following any windscreen work.

We calibrate GLA sensors at our workshops across the UK - same-day availability, fixed pricing.

ADAS Systems on the Mercedes GLA

First generation (H247, 2013-2020): DISTRONIC PLUS and Active Brake Assist use a long-range radar behind the front badge, with a camera mounted at the top of the windscreen. These operate as separate sensors.

Second generation (H247, 2020+): The new GLA uses a stereo multifunction camera bonded at the windscreen alongside the front radar. Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and DISTRONIC with route-based speed adjustment all depend on this camera. The stereo format means alignment precision is higher - a windscreen replacement that is 2mm out can produce lane assist faults even when Active Brake Assist appears to function normally.

When Does the Mercedes GLA Need ADAS Calibration?

  • After windscreen replacement - multifunction camera recalibration is mandatory after any glass change on both generations.
  • After front bumper work - front radar realignment required after bumper removal or collision repair.
  • After a front collision - both sensors require verification and recalibration.

Mercedes GLA ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Mercedes GLA

Both. DISTRONIC uses a long-range radar behind the front badge for following distance. The windscreen camera handles lane keeping and additional collision inputs. After windscreen replacement, camera calibration is always required — radar calibration is needed if the bumper has been disturbed.
