Nissan Micra ADAS Calibration

If your Nissan Micra's Intelligent Emergency Braking has stopped working after a bumper replacement, the front radar behind the Nissan badge has almost certainly shifted. The Micra's compact front end makes it one of the most common cars to suffer minor parking damage – and even a light knock to the front bumper can misalign the radar enough to deactivate the entire system.

ADAS Systems on the Nissan Micra

The current K14 Micra (2017–present) comes with Nissan Intelligent Mobility features that scale by trim level:

  • Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB) – standard across all trims. Uses a forward-facing camera on base models; radar + camera on higher specifications. Detects vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen-mounted camera alerts you when drifting without indicating. Available from Acenta trim upward.
  • Intelligent Lane Intervention – active correction on Tekna and Tekna+ trims.
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear radar sensors on Tekna+ only.
  • Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) – 360-degree camera on top-spec models.

Key detail: The K14 Micra's radar (where fitted) is behind the front Nissan badge – the same location as larger Nissan models. The camera sits behind the rearview mirror on the windscreen. On base Visia trims with IEB camera-only, windscreen replacement is the primary calibration trigger.

The earlier K13 Micra (2010–2016) has no ADAS systems and doesn't require calibration.

Nissan Micra – When Calibration Is Needed

After Front Bumper Damage

The Micra is one of the UK's most popular city cars. Its compact size means the front bumper takes regular punishment – car park knocks, low-speed urban impacts, and scrapes against bollards. On K14 models with front radar, even cosmetic bumper work that involves removing and refitting the bumper can shift the radar sensor behind the badge. If IEB deactivates or the dashboard shows codes C1A39 or C1B58-00, the radar needs professional recalibration.

After Windscreen Replacement

Every K14 Micra with IEB has a windscreen-mounted camera. After windscreen replacement, this camera must be recalibrated to maintain accurate emergency braking and lane departure detection. Many windscreen companies replace the glass but can't complete the Nissan-specific calibration – particularly accessing the radar behind the badge if both systems need attention.

Micra as a First Car or Used Purchase

The Micra is a popular first car and common used purchase. Buyers of second-hand Micras sometimes inherit existing ADAS faults – dashboard warnings that the previous owner ignored or a past repair where calibration was skipped. If your Micra has persistent IEB or LDW warnings since purchase, a professional calibration and diagnostic scan often resolves the issue.

Nissan Micra Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Most Micra owners need either windscreen calibration at £199 (after glass replacement) or radar calibration at £349 (after bumper work). The Micra's simpler ADAS suite means fewer sensors to calibrate compared to a Qashqai or X-Trail – but the precision required is identical.

Nissan Micra ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Nissan Micra

If it's a K14 model (2017 onwards), yes. All K14 Micras have Intelligent Emergency Braking as standard. Higher trims add Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Around View Monitor. The older K13 Micra (2010–2016) doesn't have ADAS.
