Nissan X-Trail ADAS Calibration

The Nissan X-Trail carries Nissan's most comprehensive ADAS package – ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link on the T33 generation, full Blind Spot Warning, and up to nine sensors spread across the front, sides, and rear. That sensor count makes the X-Trail particularly susceptible to calibration needs after any bodywork that touches the bumpers, mirrors, or quarter panels. If your X-Trail's BSW, ICC, or ProPILOT has gone inactive after a repair, the sensors need professional recalibration.

ADAS Systems on the Nissan X-Trail

T32 X-Trail (2014–2021):

  • Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB) – radar and camera on facelift models (2017+)
  • Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) – front radar behind the Nissan badge
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – windscreen camera
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear quarter-panel radar sensors
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) – uses the same rear radar as BSW
  • Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) – optional 360 camera

T33 X-Trail (2022–present):

  • ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link – the most advanced version, using GPS data to adjust speed for corners and junctions
  • IEB with intersection support – detects cross-traffic when turning
  • Intelligent Lane Intervention – active steering correction
  • BSW and RCTA – standard across all trims
  • Moving Object Detection (MOD) – warns of movement around the vehicle at low speed

The T33's front radar sits behind the Nissan badge. Rear BSW/RCTA sensors are integrated into the rear bumper corners. The AVM uses four cameras: front grille, door mirrors, and tailgate handle area.

X-Trail – Common ADAS Calibration Triggers

Blind Spot and Rear Sensor Faults

The X-Trail is one of the Nissan models we see most for BSM-specific calibration. Rear-end impacts, reversing collisions, and even towbar installations can shift the quarter-panel radar sensors. When BSW and RCTA deactivate, the dashboard may show error codes C1A26 or C1B56 – both relate to rear sensor communication or alignment faults.

Front Radar After Bumper Replacement

Like all Nissan models, the X-Trail's front radar is behind the badge. After bumper replacement or front-end collision repair, ICC and IEB deactivate until the radar is recalibrated. The X-Trail's larger front end means body shops sometimes refit bumpers with slight misalignment that's invisible to the eye but enough to throw the radar off specification.

ProPILOT Navi-Link Requires Both Sensors

On the T33, ProPILOT with Navi-Link is more sensitive than standard ProPILOT because it cross-references radar, camera, and GPS data. If either the radar or camera is out of calibration, the entire ProPILOT system disables – you lose adaptive cruise, lane centring, and the speed-adjustment-for-corners feature simultaneously.

Nissan X-Trail Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

X-Trail owners needing BSM recalibration after a rear impact or towbar fitting pay £349 under our radar/sensor calibration. If both front radar and rear BSW sensors were disturbed in a collision, the £349 collision calibration covers both zones.

Nissan X-Trail ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Nissan X-Trail

It can. The X-Trail's Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning sensors sit in the rear bumper corners. Towbar installations that modify the rear bumper or change the sensor angle may require BSW/RCTA recalibration to restore accurate detection zones.
