Renault Espace ADAS Calibration

The Renault Espace has transformed from a large MPV into a full-size SUV (sixth generation, 2023+) built on the CMF-CD platform – the same underpinnings as the Austral. It carries the most comprehensive EASY DRIVE configuration in Renault's lineup, including Highway & Traffic Jam Companion for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. When any sensor is displaced after bodywork, the entire system chain goes offline. ADAS Line recalibrates all Espace ADAS systems from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Renault Espace

The current Espace (2023+) shares its CMF-CD platform and sensor hardware with the Austral, but its larger body and longer wheelbase mean the rear sensor positions differ. The full EASY DRIVE suite is standard on UK models:

  • Highway & Traffic Jam Companion – Renault's Level 2 system combining ACC with active lane centring. Requires both front radar and windscreen camera to be perfectly aligned.
  • Active Emergency Braking (AEB) – radar and camera fusion for vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection. Standard on all trims.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – the radar sensor sits behind the front bumper emblem, managing speed and following distance.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) – windscreen camera provides lane tracking and corrective steering input.
  • Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – rear-quarter radar sensors monitoring adjacent lanes during overtaking and lane changes.
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) – rear radar sensors detect crossing vehicles when reversing out of parking spaces.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – camera-dependent speed limit display on the instrument cluster.

The Espace's wider body means the blind-spot sensors are positioned further apart than on the Austral – a detail that affects rear sensor calibration geometry.

Why Your Renault Espace Might Need Calibration

After front-end bodywork – the Espace's radar sensor behind the bumper emblem controls AEB, ACC, and the distance-keeping function of Highway & Traffic Jam Companion. Front bumper replacement, emblem removal, or collision repair in the grille area shifts the sensor. The result: phantom braking, cruise control refusing to engage, or AEB warnings on the dashboard. Our phantom braking guide explains why this happens.

After windscreen replacement – LKA, TSR, and the lane centring component of Highway & Traffic Jam Companion depend on the camera behind the rearview mirror. Windscreen replacement means mandatory camera recalibration.

After rear-end damage – BSW and RCTA use rear-quarter radar sensors. A reversing collision or rear bumper replacement can misalign these sensors, disabling blind-spot alerts.

Renault Espace Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

If your Espace's Highway & Traffic Jam Companion stopped working after a frontal repair, radar calibration at £349 typically resolves it. For collisions affecting both front and rear sensors, the £499 Full System Reset covers every calibration point in one appointment.

Renault Espace ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Renault Espace

Both use the CMF-CD platform and the same core sensor hardware, but the Espace's larger body means different sensor mounting positions — particularly for blind-spot radar at the rear. Calibration procedures are model-specific. We also calibrate the Renault Austral and Renault Arkana. See all Renault models
