SEAT Ateca ADAS Calibration

You've had the front bumper repaired on your SEAT Ateca, and now the dashboard shows ACC and Front Assist are both unavailable. The Ateca shares the VW Group MQB platform with the VW Tiguan – same radar module behind the front grille badge, same camera behind the windscreen. We calibrate Tiguan and Ateca sensors with the same equipment and the same procedure, at 70+ workshops across the UK.

ADAS Systems on the SEAT Ateca

The Ateca launched in 2016 on the MQB platform and received a significant facelift in 2020:

Ateca Pre-Facelift (2016–2020):

  • Front Assist with City Emergency Braking – standard from launch
  • ACC – optional on Xcellence trim. Radar behind the SEAT badge
  • Lane Assist – windscreen camera-based, optional
  • Rear Traffic Alert – optional, uses rear bumper radar sensors

Ateca Facelift (2020+):

  • Front Assist with predictive pedestrian detection – standard
  • ACC – standard on Xperience and above
  • Lane Assist with active steering correction
  • Side Assist – blind spot monitoring, standard on higher trims
  • Travel Assist – available on top trims, combining ACC and Lane Assist

The Ateca's higher ride height means the front radar sensor sits slightly higher than on the Leon – but the calibration targets and procedures are identical. The raised position does make the radar marginally more exposed to parking impacts and low-speed front-end contact.

Common Ateca ADAS Triggers

Front-End Collision or Bumper Replacement

The radar sensor behind the SEAT badge is the Ateca's most commonly disturbed sensor. Any frontal impact – even a low-speed car park bump – can shift the radar alignment enough to disable ACC and Front Assist. Body shops replace the bumper but often can't recalibrate the radar.

Windscreen Replacement

If your Ateca has Lane Assist or Travel Assist, the windscreen camera must be recalibrated after any windscreen swap. This is a static calibration using a precision target board – not something your windscreen fitter can typically complete.

Side Assist After Rear-End Repair

The Ateca's blind spot sensors sit in the rear bumper corners. Rear-end repairs, parking damage to the rear bumper, or replacement of the rear bumper cover can misalign these sensors. If Side Assist warnings appear after rear bodywork, the rear radar sensors need recalibration.
