Tesla Model 3 ADAS Calibration

You've had the windscreen replaced on your Tesla Model 3 and now Autopilot isn't working properly. That's because the three forward-facing cameras behind the glass have shifted – and on a Model 3, there's no radar to compensate. The Model 3 is the most common Tesla on UK roads and the most frequent Tesla we calibrate after windscreen work. Professional camera recalibration restores full Autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Tesla Vision on the Model 3

The Model 3 was Tesla's first vehicle to ship with the full 8-camera Tesla Vision suite as standard. All variants – Standard Range Plus, Long Range, and Performance – use the same camera configuration:

  • 3 forward-facing cameras behind the windscreen (main, wide, narrow telephoto) – these power Autopilot, Autosteer, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Avoidance.
  • 2 B-pillar side cameras – for Side Collision Warning and lane change assistance.
  • 2 rear quarter cameras – blind spot coverage and Smart Summon.
  • 1 rear camera – reversing, Autopark, rear cross-traffic detection.

Early Model 3s (2019-2020 UK deliveries) shipped with both radar and cameras. From 2021 onwards, Tesla removed the radar entirely – making camera calibration even more critical on newer Model 3s, as there's zero sensor redundancy.

Common Model 3 Calibration Triggers

Windscreen Replacement – The Most Common Trigger

"Windscreen" – Tesla Model 3 owner, Carlisle

This is the number one reason Model 3 owners contact us. The three forward cameras are bonded to the windscreen. When companies like Autoglass replace the glass, they often can't recalibrate Tesla's camera system – and the Model 3 displays "Camera alignment in progress" indefinitely. Our IMI-certified technicians complete the calibration that windscreen companies can't. Read our windscreen replacement ADAS guide for the full picture.

After Collision or Body Repair

Front-end impacts on a Model 3 can disturb the forward camera cluster even if the windscreen itself wasn't damaged. The narrow camera housing behind the rearview mirror is precision-mounted – any shift from structural repair, bumper replacement, or bonnet realignment requires collision calibration.

Buying a Used or Cat S Model 3

The Model 3 has a growing presence in the UK Cat S/N market. If you've bought a previously repaired Model 3 and Autopilot features aren't functioning, the cameras likely need recalibration from the prior repair. Our Cat S ADAS guide explains what to expect.

Tesla Model 3 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Most Model 3 owners need our £199 Windscreen Calibration – covering all three forward cameras after glass replacement. For Model 3s with multiple camera systems affected by collision repair, the £499 Full System Reset recalibrates the entire 8-camera array.

Tesla Model 3 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Tesla Model 3

This message appears when Tesla's onboard software attempts to self-calibrate the cameras. If it persists for more than a few days after windscreen replacement or repair, the self-calibration has failed. Professional static calibration at one of our 70+ UK workshops resolves this.
