Tesla Vision on the Model S

The Model S uses the full 8-camera Tesla Vision configuration across both Long Range and Plaid variants:

• 3 forward-facing cameras (main, wide, narrow) – windscreen-mounted. These drive Autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Avoidance.
• 2 B-pillar cameras – side-facing for Side Collision Warning and Auto Lane Change.
• 2 rear quarter cameras – blind spot monitoring and Smart Summon.
• 1 rear camera – reversing, Autopark, rear cross-traffic.

The Model S has undergone significant design changes over its production run. The 2021+ "refresh" Model S (with yoke steering) removed the front radar entirely, relying on Tesla Vision cameras only. Pre-refresh Model S vehicles (2016-2020) have both radar and cameras – both may need calibration depending on which sensors were disturbed.
