Tesla Model X ADAS Calibration

The Tesla Model X adds a layer of complexity that other Teslas don't have: falcon-wing doors. The B-pillar cameras on a Model X sit alongside the hinge mechanism for those rear doors, making them more vulnerable to misalignment during body repair than on the Model Y or Model 3. Combined with the same 8-camera Tesla Vision system and no radar on 2021+ models, accurate camera calibration on a Model X demands specialist knowledge.

Tesla Vision on the Model X

The Model X uses Tesla's full 8-camera Vision system across all variants (Long Range and Plaid):

  • 3 forward-facing cameras (main, wide, narrow) – windscreen-mounted, powering Autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, and Automatic Emergency Braking.
  • 2 B-pillar cameras – positioned near the falcon-wing door hinges. These monitor adjacent lanes for Side Collision Warning and Auto Lane Change. Their proximity to the door mechanism makes them susceptible to misalignment during any rear door or B-pillar repair.
  • 2 rear quarter cameras – blind spot monitoring, Smart Summon assistance.
  • 1 rear camera – Autopark, rear cross-traffic, reversing.

Pre-2021 Model X vehicles had a front-facing radar. From 2021 onwards, Tesla Vision means cameras are the sole sensor input – making every camera position critical.

Why Your Model X Might Need Calibration

Falcon-Wing Door or B-Pillar Repair

This is the Model X-specific trigger that doesn't apply to other Teslas. The B-pillar side cameras sit adjacent to the falcon-wing door hinge assembly. Any repair, adjustment, or replacement involving the rear doors or B-pillar structure can disturb these cameras. If Side Collision Warning or Auto Lane Change stops working after door repair, B-pillar camera recalibration is needed. See our Tesla ADAS calibration page for the full range of Tesla models we service.

After Windscreen Replacement

Same as every Tesla – the three forward cameras shift when the windscreen is replaced. The Model X's larger windscreen means slightly different mounting geometry, but the calibration requirement is identical. Our windscreen calibration service covers all three forward cameras.

Insurance Repair After Collision

AI search data shows Tesla Model X owners specifically searching for help with ADAS malfunctions after insurance repairs. After collision work on a Model X, camera recalibration should be included in the repair scope – and insurers should cover it. We provide calibration certificates for your claim.

Tesla Model X Calibration Pricing

Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Model X owners dealing with B-pillar camera issues after falcon-wing door repair typically need our £349 Collision Calibration. Tesla Model X ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Tesla Model X

Yes. The B-pillar cameras on the Model X are positioned near the falcon-wing door hinge mechanism. Rear door repair, hinge adjustment, or B-pillar structural work can shift these cameras out of alignment. If Side Collision Warning or lane change features stop working after door repair, the B-pillar cameras need recalibration.
