Toyota C-HR ADAS Calibration

You've had your Toyota C-HR's windscreen replaced, and now Lane Departure Alert has stopped working. The windscreen-mounted camera that powers Toyota Safety Sense on the C-HR needs recalibration after any glass change – and most windscreen companies can't do it. Our IMI-certified technicians recalibrate C-HR camera and radar systems at 70+ workshops across the UK, from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota C-HR

The C-HR carries Toyota Safety Sense across two distinct generations, each with different sensor configurations:

First-generation C-HR (2016–2023): Early models (2016–2018) shipped with original TSS – Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) only. The 2019 facelift brought TSS 2.0, adding full-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).

Second-generation C-HR (2024+): Launches with TSS 3.0, which adds intersection collision avoidance, cyclist and motorcycle detection, and Emergency Steering Assist. More sensors, tighter calibration tolerances.

The C-HR's front radar sits behind the Toyota badge area in the front grille. The forward-facing camera mounts to the windscreen behind the rearview mirror. The C-HR's distinctive sloping rear design means the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radar modules in the rear bumper are positioned lower than on conventional SUVs – relevant after any rear-end repair work.

Why Your Toyota C-HR Might Need ADAS Calibration

Windscreen Replacement

The C-HR is one of Toyota's most popular models for windscreen calibration requests. The camera behind the rearview mirror controls LDA, LTA, AHB, and Road Sign Assist. After glass replacement, the camera position shifts by millimetres – enough to cause false lane departure warnings or disable Lane Tracing Assist entirely.

After Bumper or Front-End Repair

Front-end collisions or bumper replacements on the C-HR misalign the radar behind the Toyota badge. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Pre-Collision System both rely on this sensor. If your C-HR's cruise control has stopped maintaining distance after bodywork, the radar needs recalibration.

Error Code C1AAC

If a diagnostic scan on your C-HR returns fault code C1AAC, it points to a camera or radar system fault within Toyota Safety Sense. This code typically appears after physical disturbance to a sensor – collision, repair, or windscreen swap. Professional recalibration with OEM-grade equipment clears it permanently.

Toyota C-HR ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota C-HR

Yes. Every C-HR from 2016 onwards has Toyota Safety Sense with at least Pre-Collision System and Lane Departure Alert. Models from 2019+ add Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing Assist. All of these rely on a windscreen camera and front radar that require professional recalibration after repairs.
