Toyota Camry ADAS Calibration

If your Toyota Camry's Dynamic Radar Cruise Control has stopped maintaining distance or won't engage at all, the front radar has likely lost alignment. The UK Camry (XV70, 2019+) carries Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 – a step above the TSS 2.0 found in the Corolla and C-HR – with improved pedestrian and low-light detection. We recalibrate Camry ADAS systems at 70+ workshops across the UK, from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota Camry

The UK-spec Camry runs Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 as standard:

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise with the radar behind the front grille emblem
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – AEB with daytime and low-light pedestrian detection, plus cyclist detection (a TSS 2.5 upgrade over 2.0)
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – active lane centering paired with DRCC
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA)
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)

Higher trims add Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) with radar modules in the rear bumper corners.

The Camry sits on Toyota's TNGA-K platform – the same architecture as the RAV4, but in a lower saloon body. The front radar is positioned at bumper height, making it more exposed to parking impacts than on raised SUV siblings. The windscreen camera sits behind the rearview mirror housing.

UK market note: The Camry returned to the UK in 2019 as a hybrid-only model. All UK Camrys are hybrid – the ADAS hardware and calibration process are identical regardless of powertrain configuration.

Why Your Camry Might Need ADAS Calibration

After Bumper Repair or Front-End Work

The Camry's saloon profile places the front radar at a height that takes direct impacts from car park bollards, low walls, and reversing collisions. Bumper removal or replacement shifts the radar enough to disable DRCC and PCS. If your Camry shows a "Pre-Collision System malfunction" message after bodywork, radar calibration is the fix.

After Windscreen Replacement

Four Camry systems depend on the windscreen camera: LDA, LTA, AHB, and RSA. After glass replacement, these systems shut down or behave erratically until the camera is recalibrated. If your Lane Tracing Assist stopped centering after a new windscreen, the camera position has shifted.

Toyota Camry ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Camry

TSS 2.5 is an upgrade over the TSS 2.0 found in the Corolla and C-HR. The main improvement is enhanced Pre-Collision System performance — better low-light pedestrian detection and cyclist detection at intersections. The sensor hardware (radar + windscreen camera) is similar, but calibration parameters are Camry-specific.
