Toyota GR Supra ADAS Calibration

Here is something most Toyota owners do not expect: the GR Supra does not use Toyota Safety Sense. The Supra is co-developed with BMW on the Z4 platform, and its entire ADAS suite is BMW hardware running BMW software. That means different sensor types, different error codes, and different calibration protocols from every other Toyota on the road. If your Supra's adaptive cruise or collision warning has stopped working after a repair, it needs a technician who understands BMW ADAS – and that is exactly what our IMI-certified specialists provide.

ADAS Systems on the Toyota GR Supra

The GR Supra (A90, 2019+) is built on the BMW CLAR platform – the same architecture as the BMW Z4, 3 Series, and other current BMW models. Its ADAS systems are BMW-sourced:

  • Active Cruise Control (ACC) – BMW's radar-based adaptive cruise. The front radar sits behind the lower grille, identical in specification to the BMW Z4's unit.
  • Frontal Collision Warning with AEB – automatic emergency braking using front radar and camera. This is BMW's system, not Toyota's Pre-Collision System.
  • Lane Departure Warning – camera-based, using the windscreen-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror.
  • Speed Limit Information – camera reads road signs, displayed on the instrument cluster.

The GR Supra does not carry Toyota-specific features like Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, or Blind Spot Monitor. Its diagnostic codes are BMW DTCs, and its calibration uses BMW-protocol equipment.

The front radar behind the lower grille is particularly exposed on the Supra – the low-slung sports car nose sits closer to road debris and is more vulnerable to track-day incidents and gravel damage than a typical saloon.

GR Supra – When ADAS Calibration Is Needed

After Front-End Repair or Collision

The Supra's aggressive front-end design positions the radar sensor low and forward. Any front bumper repair, grille replacement, or front-end collision shifts this sensor. Active Cruise Control and Frontal Collision Warning both deactivate until the BMW radar module is recalibrated. Our radar calibration handles BMW-protocol sensors.

After Windscreen Replacement

Lane Departure Warning and Speed Limit Information run through the windscreen camera. A windscreen swap on the Supra requires camera recalibration – the same process as on a BMW Z4, not a standard Toyota windscreen calibration procedure.

Track Day Damage

The GR Supra is a sports car that regularly sees track use. Vibration, kerb strikes, and front splitter damage can all shift sensor alignment over time. If ADAS warnings appear after a track session, a diagnostic scan will confirm whether recalibration is needed.

Toyota GR Supra Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Most GR Supra owners need radar recalibration after front-end work – our £349 fixed rate covers the BMW-protocol radar module behind the grille. Same price regardless of whether the work was cosmetic or collision repair.

Toyota GR Supra ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota GR Supra

The GR Supra is co-developed with BMW and built on the BMW CLAR platform — the same architecture as the BMW Z4. Everything from the engine to the ADAS hardware is BMW-sourced. This means it uses BMW error codes, BMW diagnostic protocols, and BMW-specification sensors. Our technicians have experience with both Toyota and BMW ADAS systems.
