Toyota Land Cruiser ADAS Calibration

The Toyota Land Cruiser is the only body-on-frame SUV in Toyota's UK lineup – and its Toyota Safety Sense system faces calibration challenges that unibody models like the RAV4 never encounter. Off-road use, heavy-duty tow bar installations, and the sheer height of the Land Cruiser's sensor mounting points all create unique alignment demands. We recalibrate Land Cruiser ADAS systems at 70+ workshops across the UK, with fixed pricing from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser (J300, 2021+) comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5:

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise with the front radar mounted behind the grille. On the Land Cruiser, this radar sits higher than on smaller Toyotas due to the elevated front end.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – AEB with pedestrian and daytime cyclist detection
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – active lane centering at motorway speeds
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA)

The previous-generation Land Cruiser (J150 Prado, sold until 2023 in some markets) carried earlier Toyota Safety Sense with more limited coverage – PCS and LDA only on later models. Sensor hardware differs between the J150 and J300.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) are standard on higher trims, with radar modules in the rear bumper corners.

The Land Cruiser's elevated ride height means its front radar target zone is different from any other Toyota. Calibration requires target board positioning specific to this chassis height – generic setups designed for hatchbacks won't deliver accurate results.

When Your Land Cruiser Needs ADAS Calibration

After Off-Road Use or Underbody Impact

The Land Cruiser is designed for off-road driving, but rough terrain, rock strikes to the undercarriage, and branch impacts to the front end can shift radar and camera alignment over time. If your DRCC or PCS starts behaving inconsistently after off-road sessions, the front radar may need recalibration.

After Tow Bar or Bull Bar Installation

Fitting aftermarket tow bars, bull bars, or winch mounts on the Land Cruiser can disturb front radar positioning. If your adaptive cruise control stopped working after installing accessories, the radar needs professional realignment.

After Windscreen Replacement

The windscreen camera on the Land Cruiser controls LDA, LTA, AHB, and RSA. The Land Cruiser's large, steeply raked windscreen means the camera mounting angle differs from smaller Toyotas – calibration targets must account for this. If your windscreen fitter couldn't complete the camera recalibration, we handle it.

Toyota Land Cruiser ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Land Cruiser

Yes. While Toyota builds the Land Cruiser for off-road use, the ADAS sensors still require precise alignment. Sustained off-road driving, rock strikes to the front end, or heavy impacts can shift the radar behind the grille. If your Pre-Collision System or cruise control starts giving false alerts or deactivating, recalibration restores accuracy.
