Toyota Prius ADAS Calibration

The Prius was one of the first mass-market cars to carry Toyota Safety Sense – and its ADAS has evolved significantly across generations. The fourth-generation Prius (2016–2022) shipped with TSS 1.0 or TSS 2.0 depending on the year, while the fifth-generation (2023+) jumps to TSS 3.0. Knowing which generation you have determines the calibration approach. We recalibrate Prius ADAS systems at 70+ UK workshops, from £199.

ADAS Systems on Your Toyota Prius

Fifth-Generation Prius (2023+)

The current Prius runs Toyota Safety Sense 3.0:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – AEB with intersection support, motorcycle detection, and improved night-time pedestrian recognition
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist
  • Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – active lane centering
  • Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) – new to TSS 3.0
  • Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) – anticipates risks and adjusts speed approaching curves and intersections
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)

Fourth-Generation Prius (2016–2022)

Earlier models carry TSS or TSS 2.0:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – pedestrian detection from 2018 facelift onwards
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – available on TSS 2.0 models (2019+)
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)

Both generations use a front radar behind the lower grille and a windscreen-mounted camera behind the rearview mirror. The Prius's aerodynamic nose means the front radar sits lower than on Toyota's SUV models – closer to road debris and kerb-height impacts.

Prius ADAS – When Calibration Is Needed

After Windscreen Replacement

The Prius's steeply raked windscreen is prone to stone chips, making windscreen replacement common. The camera behind the mirror runs LDA, LTA, AHB, and (on Gen 5) ESA and PDA. After glass replacement, all these systems need recalibration. On the fifth-gen Prius, leaving the camera uncalibrated disables Proactive Driving Assist – a system unique to TSS 3.0.

After Front-End Collision or Bumper Repair

The Prius's low nose puts the front radar at kerb height – vulnerable to car park bumps, speed bumps at the wrong angle, and low-speed collisions. After bumper replacement or front-end bodywork, DRCC and PCS deactivate until radar recalibration restores alignment.

Toyota Prius Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Windscreen camera calibration is the most common Prius request – the raked glass picks up stone chips frequently. That's our £199 fixed rate, covering all camera-dependent systems in a single visit.

Toyota Prius ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Prius

The fourth-generation Prius (2016–2022) uses TSS or TSS 2.0 — Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and (on later models) Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The fifth-generation (2023+) upgrades to TSS 3.0 with Emergency Steering Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, and intersection collision avoidance. Both use radar + camera, but the Gen 5 has tighter calibration tolerances. See all Toyota models we calibrate.
