ADAS Systems on Your Toyota Proace

The Proace and Proace Verso share their platform with the PSA Group (Peugeot Expert, Citroën Dispatch), which means the ADAS hardware differs from Toyota's passenger car lineup – this is not a Toyota Safety Sense vehicle.

Proace / Proace Verso (2016+) ADAS features:

  • Active Safety Brake – automatic emergency braking using the front camera
  • Lane Departure Warning – camera-based lane monitoring
  • Speed Limit Recognition – reads road signs via the windscreen camera
  • Blind Spot Monitoring – radar modules in the rear bumper (higher trims)
  • Driver Attention Alert – monitors steering patterns

The Proace does not use Toyota's branded system names (DRCC, PCS, LDA). Instead, it carries the PSA-derived safety suite with different calibration requirements and diagnostic protocols.

Key difference: The Proace's windscreen camera sits in a different position from Toyota passenger cars – it's mounted lower on the windscreen due to the van's taller, more upright glass. This means standard Toyota Safety Sense calibration targets don't apply – the Proace needs its own calibration profile.

Proace City note: The smaller Proace City is based on the PSA small van platform (shared with Peugeot Partner/Citroën Berlingo) and has different ADAS hardware again. We calibrate both.

When Your Proace Needs ADAS Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

The Proace's large, flat windscreen is more vulnerable to stone chips and cracks than a passenger car's. Commercial van operators replace windscreens more frequently – and each replacement moves the ADAS camera. If your Active Safety Brake or Lane Departure Warning deactivated after a glass swap, the camera needs professional recalibration.

After Front-End Collision or Bumper Repair

Fleet Proace vehicles are frequently involved in low-speed collisions – loading bay impacts, tight depot manoeuvres, and reversing incidents. Front bumper damage can shift any forward-facing radar or camera module. If safety systems have deactivated after bodywork, collision calibration restores them.

After Side Mirror or Panel Replacement

Blind Spot Monitoring sensors on higher-spec Proace models sit in the rear bumper and side panels. Panel replacement work – common on commercial vans – can misalign these sensors, causing missed blind spot alerts or false warnings when lane changing.

Toyota Proace ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Toyota Proace

No. The Proace shares its platform and ADAS hardware with the Peugeot Expert and Citroën Dispatch — not with Toyota passenger cars. It does not use Toyota Safety Sense. Calibration requires PSA-specific diagnostic equipment, which our technicians have. For Toyota Safety Sense models, see our RAV4 and Corolla pages.
