Is Passat ADAS calibration the same as the VW Golf?

Yes — both sit on VW's MQB platform with the same radar module and camera unit. The calibration process, equipment, and targets are identical. The difference is in which systems are fitted: higher-spec Passats often have Side Assist and Travel Assist (B9) that entry-level Golfs don't. We calibrate every system the Passat carries. Does the new Passat B9 need different calibration equipment?

The Passat B9 (2024+) uses updated sensor hardware but the same MQB-Evo platform. Our OEM-grade equipment supports both B8 and B9 calibration. The B9's Travel Assist system requires both radar and camera to be properly calibrated — our Full System Reset at £499 covers the complete suite if multiple systems are affected.

The Passat B8 (2014–2023) and new Passat B9 (2024+) both sit on VW's MQB platform, but the B9 significantly expanded the ADAS suite.

Passat B8 / B8.5 (2014–2023):

Front Assist – automatic emergency braking via front radar behind the VW badge. Standard from 2017 facelift on all trims.
ACC – adaptive cruise control sharing the front radar sensor. Popular option on SE and above trims, standard on GT and R-Line.

The Passat's radar sensor location is identical to the Golf – behind the VW badge on the front grille. Any bumper removal or grille work displaces it. The windscreen camera sits behind the rearview mirror, same position as all MQB-platform Volkswagens.

Common Issues on the VW Passat

Fleet and Lease Return Calibration Failures

Passat fleet vehicles accumulate minor front-end damage – car park impacts, motorway stone chips to the bumper, grille badge knocks. Fleet operators often don't investigate until the vehicle is returned at lease end and the ACC or Front Assist faults are flagged during inspection.
