Does the VW Polo have ADAS?

Yes. Every Polo Mk6 (2017+) has at least Front Assist as standard on SE trims and above. The 2021 facelift made Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring standard on all trims. The Polo's compact dimensions make it a city car – and city cars take bumper knocks. Supermarket car parks, parallel parking misjudgements, and low-speed reversing contacts are the most common triggers for Polo ADAS faults. Because the radar sits behind the badge in the centre of the grille, even a dead-centre parking bollard contact can displace it.

This scenario highlights a common Polo owner response: sourcing a replacement radar unit from a used car rather than buying new from VW. The part fits, but it still needs professional calibration to the specific vehicle's geometry – a used radar installed without calibration won't fix the fault.

Front Assist Warnings on Entry-Level Trims

Pre-facelift Polo SE models sometimes lose Front Assist after minor impacts that wouldn't trigger a warning on a Golf. The Polo's shorter front overhang means the grille sits closer to potential impact points. If your Polo shows "Front Assist not available" after even a gentle bump, radar calibration at £349 resolves it.

After Windscreen Replacement

Polo models with Lane Assist need windscreen calibration after any screen replacement. At £199, this is a straightforward recalibration of the forward-facing camera. The Polo's windscreen is smaller than the Golf's, but the camera mounting and calibration process is identical.
