ADAS Calibration for Audi models

You've just had your Audi's front grille replaced - or a body shop repaired collision damage and refitted the bumper. Now Audi Pre Sense, Adaptive Cruise Assist, and Side Assist are all showing faults. Audi's ADAS systems share a centralised controller called the zFAS module, and when one sensor is disturbed, multiple systems can fail simultaneously.

Audi ADAS Calibration Cost

Calibration costs depend on your specific Audi model, which ADAS systems need recalibration, and whether mobile or workshop service is required.

Every Audi model has different ADAS sensors fitted depending on trim level and year. Share your registration and we’ll confirm exactly which systems need calibration.

What Audi ADAS Calibration Involves

The three most common calibration scenarios for Audi vehicles — each linked to a dedicated service page.

£199 Starting price

Windscreen Camera Recalibration

Every Audi with a forward-facing camera — including models with Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Autonomous Emergency Braking — requires camera recalibration after windscreen replacement. This is the most common Audi ADAS job we carry out.

Radar & Sensor Alignment

Audi models fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, or Rear Cross Traffic Alert carry radar modules behind the bumper or grille. Any bodywork repair or bumper removal requires sensor recalibration using manufacturer-specific targets and procedures.

Post-Collision Full Check

After any collision repair involving a Audi, multiple ADAS sensors may be disturbed simultaneously — including cameras, radar modules, and parking sensors. A comprehensive post-collision calibration restores every system to factory tolerances and satisfies insurer documentation requirements.

Audi ADAS Systems We Calibrate

Audi adds its own naming and a level of system complexity that sets it apart - even from its VW Group siblings:

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist - Audi's adaptive cruise control that adjusts speed and maintains distance. Uses the front radar behind the grille badge.
  • Audi Pre Sense Front / Pre Sense City - Automatic emergency braking. Pre Sense Front covers highway speeds; Pre Sense City covers lower-speed urban situations.
  • Active Lane Assist - Camera-based lane keeping that gently steers you back into your lane.
  • Side Assist - Blind spot monitoring using rear radar sensors, alerting you during lane changes.
  • 360-Degree Camera System - Four exterior cameras providing a bird's-eye view for parking and manoeuvring.
  • Night Vision Assistant - Infrared camera that detects pedestrians and animals in darkness (available on A6, A7, A8, Q7, Q8).
  • Matrix LED - Adaptive headlights that selectively dim individual LED segments to avoid dazzling other drivers.

On newer Audi models (A4 B9+, A6 C8+, Q7 4M+), all these systems feed through the zFAS module (J1121) - a centralised ADAS controller. If this module is replaced or loses its configuration, every connected system requires recalibration - our full system reset covers the complete zFAS scope. This is a complexity unique to Audi that most independent garages can't handle.

When Your Audi Needs ADAS Recalibration

Your Garage Can't Do It

This is the most common scenario we see with Audi. Independent Audi specialists can handle the mechanical repair - bumper replacement, grille fitting, sensor swaps - but don't have the OEM-grade diagnostic equipment to perform the radar calibration afterwards.

"The independent Audi specialists I use can do the repair but don't have the equipment to calibrate the cruise control (radar?) on completion." - Audi A6 owner, Kent

Aftermarket Modifications

Fitting an aftermarket grille, RS-style bumper, or starlight headliner can trigger ADAS faults. The sensors behind the grille were calibrated to the original part geometry - any change throws them off.

"Recently bought an 18 plate Audi S5 which had the front grill replaced with an RS5 Grill and also had a headliner starlight system fitted to it. I'm told this has what's caused the errors to appear." - Audi S5 owner, Cambridgeshire

zFAS Module Replacement

If your Audi's zFAS module (J1121) has been replaced - due to water damage, collision, or electrical failure - all ADAS systems connected to it need recalibrating from scratch. This includes radar, cameras, and parking sensors.

Phantom Braking

Audi owners also report Pre Sense triggering falsely - the car detecting obstacles that aren't there and braking unexpectedly. Recalibration of the front radar and camera resolves this in most cases.

Audi Models - Full ADAS Calibration Coverage

The Audi A4 is our most-requested Audi model, followed by the A6 and A5. All three feature the zFAS module on newer variants, making specialist calibration essential after any front-end work.

We calibrate ADAS systems on every Audi model in the UK.

Audi ADAS Calibration — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ADAS calibration for your Audi

The zFAS (J1121) is Audi's centralised ADAS controller found in newer models. It processes data from the front radar, windscreen camera, and ultrasonic sensors. When the zFAS module is replaced or loses configuration, every system it controls – Adaptive Cruise Assist, Pre Sense, Active Lane Assist, Side Assist – needs recalibrating. This is unique to Audi and requires specialist equipment.
