BMW iX ADAS Calibration

BMW calls it Driving Assistant Professional with Highway Assistant – and on the iX, it's standard on every variant. Built on its own dedicated I20 platform, the iX was engineered with sensors as integral structural components rather than adding ADAS incrementally like combustion BMWs. That integration means a single displaced sensor during repair can trigger faults across systems that share the same data feeds.

ADAS Systems on the BMW iX

The iX carries BMW's maximum ADAS specification as standard – no optional packages to decode:

  • Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go – front radar behind the closed kidney grille
  • Steering and Lane Control Assistant – forward camera plus side radar for active lane centring
  • Highway Assistant – hands-off motorway driving, dependent on both radar and camera alignment
  • Parking Assistant Plus with Surround View – four cameras plus 12 ultrasonic sensors
  • Front Collision Warning with AEB – camera and radar fusion
  • Lane Departure Warning and Speed Limit Info – windscreen-mounted camera

The iX's distinctive closed grille means the radar sits behind a flat panel rather than traditional slats. The forward camera uses a stereo unit bonded to the windscreen – the same technology found on the i4. Side radar modules sit behind the rear bumper skins.

When Your BMW iX Needs ADAS Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

The iX has one of the largest windscreens in BMW's range, and the stereo camera bonded to it is a precision component. When the glass is replaced, the camera must be recalibrated using manufacturer-specified static targets – many glass companies can't handle BMW's stereo procedure. See our windscreen replacement guide for details.

After Front-End Repair or Grille Work

The closed kidney grille houses the front radar. Unlike traditional BMW grilles with open slats, the flat panel design means any grille-area repair can shift the radar. If Active Cruise Control won't engage after bodywork, the radar alignment needs verifying.

Post-Collision Sensor Cascade

A front-end collision can disable Highway Assistant, ACC, lane keeping, parking sensors, and surround-view cameras simultaneously. The iX's deep sensor data sharing means a single displaced radar cascades faults across the entire Driving Assistant suite. A collision calibration or full system reset addresses everything in one appointment.

BMW iX Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The iX's oversized windscreen makes glass replacement more common than on smaller BMWs – our £199 camera calibration covers the stereo unit that controls lane keeping, sign recognition, and emergency braking input.

BMW iX ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the BMW iX

Yes. The iX uses BMW's dedicated I20 platform with a stereo forward camera and deeper sensor integration than the iX1 (FAAR platform). The iX's larger sensor array and Highway Assistant capability require additional calibration positions. Both are calibrated at our workshops under the same fixed pricing.
