BMW X2 ADAS Calibration

The BMW X2 bridges the gap between compact SUV and coupé – and the current generation (U10, 2024+) moved from BMW's older UKL platform to the newer FAAR architecture. That platform change repositioned every ADAS sensor on the vehicle. If you've recently bought a new X2 and had bodywork done, or if your first-generation F39 X2 has developed Driving Assistant faults, the calibration requirements depend entirely on which generation you own.

ADAS Systems on the BMW X2

U10 (2024+): The current X2 runs on BMW's FAAR platform – the same base as the 1 Series and X1. Driving Assistant is standard:

  • Front Collision Warning + AEB – windscreen-mounted camera and front radar behind the kidney grille. The X2's sloped roofline positions the windscreen camera at a slightly steeper angle than the more upright X1.
  • Lane Departure Warning – camera-based, with steering wheel vibration.
  • Speed Limit Info – camera reads road signs.

Driving Assistant Professional (optional, common on M Sport X and M35i):

  • Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go – radar-controlled.
  • Lane Change Assistant – side radar sensors behind the rear bumper.
  • Parking Assistant Plus – ultrasonic sensors and Surround View cameras.

F39 (2018–2023): Built on BMW's older UKL platform. Driving Assistant was optional – base models often lack ADAS. Where fitted, the radar sits behind the lower grille and the camera is windscreen-mounted, but the sensor positions are specific to the UKL architecture and differ from the current U10 generation. If you have an F39 with Driving Assistant, the calibration procedure accounts for these older sensor positions.

Common ADAS Triggers for the BMW X2

Windscreen Replacement on the U10

The U10 X2's sloped coupé-style roofline means the windscreen sits at a steeper rake angle than the X1 or 1 Series. After windscreen replacement, this steeper angle makes precise camera repositioning even more critical – a small angular error is magnified over distance. If Lane Departure Warning or Speed Limit Info stopped working after glass replacement, the camera needs professional calibration.

Front-End Repair

The X2 shares the same compact front-end packaging as the 1 Series, with the radar positioned behind the kidney grille at a height that encounters bollards and low-speed parking hazards. A bumper repair or grille replacement can shift the radar module. If Active Cruise Control has deactivated, radar calibration at £349 resolves it.

Platform Change Confusion

If your X2 was recently traded in or purchased second-hand, be aware that the F39 and U10 are fundamentally different vehicles. Body shops familiar with the older UKL-platform F39 may not account for the FAAR sensor layout on the U10. If your garage completed a repair but ADAS faults persist, the calibration may have targeted the wrong sensor configuration.

BMW X2 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The most common X2 calibration is windscreen camera at £199 – the coupé roofline and steep windscreen angle make post-replacement calibration essential for Lane Departure Warning and Speed Limit Info.

BMW X2 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the BMW X2

The U10 X2 and U11 X1 share the FAAR platform and similar sensor hardware, but the X2's steeper windscreen angle and lower roofline mean the camera calibration targets are set differently. Our IMI-certified technicians use model-specific calibration parameters for each BMW variant — the pricing is the same, but the procedure is tailored to the X2.
