Ford Grand C-MAX ADAS Calibration

The Ford Grand C-MAX gave families seven seats with sliding rear doors – a combination that sold well before Ford discontinued it in 2019. Hundreds of thousands remain on UK roads as affordable family transport, and their ADAS systems still need calibrating after repairs. The Grand C-MAX shares its sensor hardware with the five-seat C-MAX, but the longer body and sliding door mechanism create additional scenarios where sensors get disturbed during panel work.

ADAS Systems on the Ford Grand C-MAX

The Grand C-MAX Mk2 (2010-2019) carries the same ADAS package as its five-seat sibling, introduced progressively across the production run:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with AEB – windscreen camera detects vehicles and pedestrians. Standard on 2015+ Titanium and Titanium X trims. The camera sits behind the windscreen near the rearview mirror.
  • Lane-Keeping Alert – camera-based lane monitoring with steering vibration warnings. Alert-only – no active steering correction.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) – reads speed limit signs via the windscreen camera. Available on later model years.
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) – radar sensors in the rear bumper quarters. Available on Titanium X. Particularly useful on the Grand C-MAX due to its larger blind spots from the extended body.
  • Active Park Assist – ultrasonic sensors for semi-automated parking. Valuable for a vehicle of this length.
  • Rear Parking Sensors – standard on most trims from the mid-life facelift.

The Grand C-MAX predates Co-Pilot360. Forward ADAS is camera-only – no front grille radar. The main difference from the shorter C-MAX is that BLIS is more commonly fitted on Grand C-MAX due to the larger blind spot created by the extended rear body and sliding doors.

Common Grand C-MAX ADAS Triggers

After windscreen replacement

Pre-Collision Assist, Lane-Keeping Alert, and Traffic Sign Recognition depend on the windscreen camera. Family MPVs accumulate motorway miles and windscreen chips – every glass replacement requires camera calibration. Most glass companies replace the screen but leave the ADAS uncalibrated.

After sliding door or rear quarter panel repairs

The Grand C-MAX's sliding rear doors run alongside the rear quarter panels where BLIS radar modules sit. Body repairs to the rear quarters – whether from a car park impact or door mechanism damage – can shift the Blind Spot sensors. If BLIS stops alerting or gives false warnings after panel work, sensor recalibration is needed.

After rear bumper repair

The Grand C-MAX's length makes it prone to rear-end incidents in car parks and school drop-off areas. Rear bumper work can affect parking sensors and BLIS modules simultaneously. If multiple rear systems are reading incorrectly after a repair, they likely all need recalibrating in one session.

Ford Grand C-MAX Calibration Pricing

Most Grand C-MAX owners need windscreen calibration at £199. If your Grand C-MAX has BLIS and both the windscreen and rear bumper were involved, our £499 Full System Reset covers camera, BLIS radar, and parking sensors together.

Ford Grand C-MAX ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Ford Grand C-MAX

The ADAS hardware is identical. The Grand C-MAX is the longer, seven-seat version of the C-MAX with sliding rear doors. Sensor positions, camera placement, and calibration procedures are the same. The main practical difference is that BLIS is more commonly fitted on the Grand C-MAX because its longer body creates larger blind spots.
