Kia EV9 ADAS Calibration

The EV9 is Kia's flagship electric SUV – and it carries the most sensor-dense DriveWise suite in the range. Built on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6, the EV9 adds Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-change functionality and Remote Smart Parking Assist as standard. That sensor density means any bodywork or glass replacement requires precision recalibration. From £199.

ADAS Systems on the Kia EV9

The EV9 (MV, 2024+) is Kia's three-row electric SUV with the fullest DriveWise implementation to date. E-GMP architecture positions sensors differently from ICE-platform models like the Sportage.

Full DriveWise suite (standard on all trims):

  • Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) – semi-autonomous motorway driving combining SCC and LFA. The EV9 adds machine-learning lane changes with driver confirmation. Requires both front radar and windscreen camera in perfect alignment.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) 2.0 – camera-radar fusion detecting vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and oncoming traffic at junctions.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go – radar-based adaptive cruise integrated with regenerative braking. Front radar embedded in the lower bumper.
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) – the EV9 parks and unparks itself using ultrasonic sensors and surround-view cameras. Any sensor displacement disables this feature.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – rear quarter panel radar with active steering and braking.

Sensor locations: Front radar in the lower bumper (no traditional grille on E-GMP). Forward camera behind the windscreen. Rear radar in both quarter panels. Ultrasonic sensors around the full perimeter.

Why Your Kia EV9 Might Need Calibration

After front bumper repair

The EV9's front radar is flush-mounted into the bumper – no separate grille housing. Even a cosmetic respray can shift the radar enough to disable SCC and HDA 2. The radar must be recalibrated using E-GMP-specific procedures.

After windscreen replacement

The windscreen camera controls LFA and contributes to FCA and HDA 2. After any windscreen replacement, HDA 2 will not engage until the camera is correctly realigned.

After parking sensor damage

Remote Smart Parking Assist relies on ultrasonic sensors around the full perimeter. A car park knock that damages even one sensor housing can disable RSPA entirely.

The EV9's multi-sensor setup means collision repairs often affect more than one system. Our £499 Full System Reset covers front radar, windscreen camera, rear blind-spot sensors, and parking system in one visit.

Kia EV9 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia EV9

Both use the E-GMP platform and share the same sensor architecture, but the EV9 adds Remote Smart Parking Assist with extra ultrasonic sensors. Calibration follows E-GMP procedures with additional steps for RSPA where fitted. Our technicians use OEM-grade equipment covering both models. See all Kia models
