Kia Sportage ADAS Calibration

The Kia Sportage is the UK's best-selling Kia – and one of the most common models we see for DriveWise calibration after bodywork or windscreen replacement. The fifth-generation Sportage (2022+) carries the full DriveWise suite with sensors at three points: front radar behind the bumper, forward camera behind the windscreen, and rear radar in the quarter panels. Kia Sportage ADAS calibration from £199.

DriveWise Systems on the Kia Sportage

The Sportage has evolved significantly across generations. Which DriveWise systems your Sportage has – and which need calibration – depends on the model year.

Fifth generation (NQ5, 2022+):

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) 2.0 – updated version with junction-turning and lane-change detection. Uses front camera and radar together.
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go – radar behind the Kia emblem on the front bumper. Handles motorway driving and stop-start traffic.
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA) – active lane centring, not just departure warning. Camera-dependent.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) – active braking intervention using rear radar sensors.
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) – on higher trims. Ultrasonic sensors around the vehicle perimeter.

Fourth generation (QL, 2016–2021):

  • Smart Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist on most trims. Forward Collision-Avoidance on higher specs. Fewer sensor points – front radar and windscreen camera only. No rear blind-spot radar on base models.

The 2022+ Sportage has sensor locations identical to the Sorento – front radar behind the bumper emblem, camera behind the windscreen rearview mirror mount.

Common Calibration Triggers for the Sportage

After windscreen replacement

The Sportage's forward-facing camera sits behind the windscreen, controlling Lane Following Assist and contributing to FCA. This is one of the most common triggers – your windscreen fitter replaces the glass, but the camera needs recalibration that requires specialist equipment.

After front bumper repair

The Smart Cruise Control radar is behind the front Kia emblem. Bumper replacement, a front-end respray, or even emblem removal during bodywork shifts the radar alignment. SCC and FCA will deactivate until the radar is recalibrated.

After a rear-end collision (2022+ models)

The fifth-generation Sportage has Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance rear radar in both quarter panels. Rear-end damage or rear bumper replacement can affect these sensors, causing BCA warnings on the dashboard.

If your Sportage's Lane Following Assist has stopped centring the vehicle since your windscreen was replaced, the camera behind the glass needs recalibration – it's a 1-2 hour job at any of our 70+ workshops.

Kia Sportage ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Kia Sportage

Yes, though the fourth-generation Sportage has fewer systems than the 2022+ model. If yours has Smart Cruise Control or Lane Keeping Assist (check your dashboard for these functions), they rely on the same radar and camera sensors that need recalibration after repair.
