The Velar's flush panel design integrates sensors more tightly into the bodywork, which means more sensors can be affected by a single repair. The calibration procedures themselves use the same OEM-grade equipment as all Land Rover models. My Velar's ClearSight Ground View shows a distorted image after a front bumper repair. Is this ADAS?

ClearSight Ground View uses front-facing cameras — when these shift during bumper or grille work, the displayed image becomes inaccurate. While ClearSight isn't a traditional ADAS safety system like AEB, it's calibrated using the same camera alignment equipment. We recalibrate ClearSight alongside standard ADAS sensors during any front-end calibration visit.

Is the Velar's ADAS the same as the Evoque?

They share JLR's platform architecture, but the Velar has additional systems not available on the Evoque — notably Closing Vehicle Sensing on the Blind Spot Assist and a more advanced 3D Surround Camera setup. The front radar and windscreen camera procedures are similar, but the Velar's additional sensors require more calibration steps after comprehensive bodywork.

The Velar (L560, 2017–present) carries a full Land Rover ADAS suite:

Standard systems (2017+):

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) – Radar and camera fusion for collision prevention. The front radar is behind the lower grille area.
Lane Keep Assist – Active lane centring via the windscreen-mounted camera.
Lane Departure Warning – Camera-based drift detection.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist – Front radar-based speed and distance management on higher trims, standard on later builds.

Blind Spot Assist with Closing Vehicle Sensing – Rear radar sensors detecting vehicles approaching at speed from behind, not just in the blind spot.

Key Velar detail: The flush, concealed panel design integrates sensors into bodywork with very tight tolerances. A panel repair that's a few millimetres off can affect sensor alignment – which is why the Velar generates more multi-sensor calibration needs than conventionally styled Land Rovers like the Discovery or Defender.

If the "transparent bonnet" display shows misaligned images, the front cameras need recalibrating.
