Lexus RX ADAS Calibration

The fifth-generation RX (2023+) is Lexus's mid-size luxury SUV – and it carries the same LSS+ 3.0 as the NX but in a larger body with more surface area exposed to parking and urban driving damage. Every RX leaves the factory with the full sensor suite: front radar behind the grille, windscreen camera, blind spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic radar. After bumper repair, collision work, or windscreen replacement, these sensors need professional recalibration.

ADAS Systems on Your Lexus RX

The current RX (2023+) runs on the TNGA-K platform with LSS+ 3.0:

  • Pre-Collision System (PCS) – AEB with pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcycle detection. Front radar and windscreen camera.
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) – full-speed adaptive cruise using the front radar.
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) – windscreen camera.
  • Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) – rear bumper corner sensors.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) – reversing warning system.
  • Road Sign Assist (RSA) – camera-based sign reading.
  • Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) – AI hazard prediction on LSS+ 3.0.

Previous-generation RX (2015-2022) used LSS+ 2.0 with the same sensor types but fewer detection capabilities. The front radar position – behind the Lexus emblem in the grille – is consistent across generations and matches Toyota equivalents.

When Your Lexus RX Needs Calibration

After Bumper Repair or Front-End Work

The RX's front radar powers PCS and DRCC. SUV-sized bumpers attract parking damage, and any repair involving bumper removal shifts the radar. A "PCS malfunction" warning after bodywork means radar recalibration is needed.

After Windscreen Replacement

The RX's windscreen camera drives LDA, LTA, RSA, and PDA. Every windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration – no exceptions, regardless of whether the windscreen fitter claims it was "aligned during fitting."

After Rear-End Impact

Rear bumper damage can shift the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert sensors. If BSM or RCTA warnings appear after a rear-end repair, those sensors need recalibrating alongside any front work.

The RX's comprehensive sensor suite means a Full System Reset at £499 is often the right choice after collision repair – covering front radar, windscreen camera, and rear blind spot sensors in one appointment.
