Mazda CX-3 ADAS Calibration

The Mazda CX-3 uses something unusual in its segment – DCBS (Distance & Speed Monitoring Support) with stereo cameras behind the windscreen rather than the single-camera setup found on the CX-5 and CX-30. These dual cameras handle both Smart City Brake Support and forward obstacle detection, making windscreen replacement a more complex calibration event on the CX-3 than on larger Mazdas.

ADAS Systems on the Mazda CX-3

The CX-3 (DK, 2015–2023) carries a mid-range i-Activsense suite with one notable hardware difference:

  • Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) – low-speed AEB, but on the CX-3 it uses DCBS stereo cameras rather than the near-infrared sensor found on the Mazda2
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) – front radar behind the Mazda emblem, available on Sport Nav and above
  • Smart Brake Support (SBS) – high-speed AEB via front radar (on MRCC-equipped models)
  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) – uses the DCBS stereo camera system
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) – rear radar sensors in the bumper corners, optional on higher trims
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) – works alongside BSM
  • Driver Attention Alert (DAA) – monitors driving patterns

The DCBS stereo camera setup is the CX-3's distinguishing feature for calibration. Stereo cameras require paired calibration – both lenses must be aligned relative to each other and to the vehicle centreline. A single-camera procedure won't produce accurate results on a CX-3.

Common i-Activsense Faults on the CX-3

After windscreen replacement: This is the primary CX-3 calibration trigger. The DCBS stereo cameras are mounted behind the windscreen, and replacing the glass displaces both camera lenses. Stereo calibration is more sensitive than single-camera calibration – even small misalignment between the two lenses degrades distance measurement. Our Windscreen Calibration (£199) includes stereo camera alignment.

After bumper or front-end repair: CX-3 models with MRCC have the radar behind the front emblem. Bumper repair or emblem replacement shifts the radar, disabling cruise control and SBS. This is the same radar position as the CX-5, but the CX-3's smaller body means the bumper takes more proportional impact from car park bumps.

After rear bumper damage: BSM and RCTA sensors in the rear corners are vulnerable to parking impacts. If blind spot warnings have disappeared after a rear-end bump, these sensors need recalibrating.

Mazda CX-3 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

CX-3 windscreen replacements require our £199 service to recalibrate the DCBS stereo cameras – a paired calibration that accounts for both lenses, not just one. If bumper work also disturbed the front radar, our £349 Radar/Sensor Calibration covers MRCC and SBS.

Mazda CX-3 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Mazda CX-3

DCBS stands for Distance & Speed Monitoring Support. On the CX-3, it's a stereo camera system behind the windscreen that handles SCBS and forward obstacle detection. Unlike the single-camera setup on the CX-30 and Mazda3, the CX-3's dual cameras require paired calibration — both lenses must be aligned relative to each other for accurate distance measurement.
