Peugeot 208 ADAS Calibration

You've had your Peugeot 208's windscreen replaced, and now Lane Keeping Assist is showing a warning and Active Safety Brake has deactivated. The 208's compact i-Cockpit design positions the forward-facing camera directly on the windscreen glass – when the glass changes, the camera loses its calibration reference point. This is the most common reason 208 owners need ADAS recalibration, and the windscreen company that fitted your glass may not have the equipment to complete it.

ADAS Systems on Your Peugeot 208

The current 208 (2019+, platform CMP) introduced a full Drive Assist package. The previous generation (2012–2019) had minimal driver assistance – if your 208 is pre-2019, it likely doesn't carry calibratable ADAS systems.

On 2019+ models:

  • Active Safety Brake – Peugeot's automatic emergency braking. Uses the windscreen camera and front radar to detect vehicles and pedestrians. Standard across all 2019+ trims.
  • Lane Keeping Assist – camera-based, monitors lane markings and applies corrective steering. Requires recalibration after windscreen replacement.
  • Lane Departure Warning – audible and visual alert when drifting without indicating. Same camera dependency.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control – available on Allure and GT trims. Radar behind the front bumper panel.
  • Driver Attention Alert – monitors steering patterns for drowsiness.

The 208 shares the CMP (Common Modular Platform) with the Peugeot 2008 – same sensor hardware in the same positions, but the 208's lower ride height puts the front bumper radar closer to kerb-level impacts.

Common Issues – Peugeot 208 ADAS Faults

Windscreen replacement – the most common trigger

The 208 is a city car. Stone chips and windscreen damage are frequent, and every windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration. If your windscreen fitter told you they couldn't calibrate the camera, it's because the 208's i-Cockpit camera module requires manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment that most glass companies don't carry.

After bumper repair

Even a low-speed parking bump can shift the 208's front radar sensor. The radar sits behind the lower bumper panel – close to the ground on the 208's supermini body. If Active Safety Brake or ACC has stopped working after a minor front-end repair, the radar needs recalibrating.

Cat S/N purchases

The 208 has a strong presence in the UK's salvage market. If you've purchased a Cat S or Cat N 208 and the ADAS systems aren't responding, the sensors likely need recalibrating after the previous repair work. See our Cat S ADAS guide for what to check before buying.

Peugeot 208 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Peugeot 208

Only the 2019+ generation (CMP platform). Pre-2019 208 models have basic driver aids but no calibratable ADAS systems like Active Safety Brake or Lane Keeping Assist. If your 208 is 2019 or newer, it has ADAS sensors that require calibration after repairs.
