Polestar 4 ADAS Calibration

No rear window. The Polestar 4 replaces the rear glass with a solid panel and depends entirely on a rear-facing HD camera feeding a digital screen for rearward visibility. If that camera is miscalibrated after a tailgate or bumper repair, you do not lose a convenience feature – you lose the ability to see behind the car. Rear camera calibration on the Polestar 4 is not optional. It is how you drive safely.

ADAS Systems on Your Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 runs on Geely's SEA platform with 1 mid-range radar, 11 exterior cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors:

  • Pilot Assist – Level 2 semi-autonomous driving with ACC and lane centring
  • Collision Avoidance – AEB with vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist detection
  • Adaptive Cruise Control – radar-based speed and distance management
  • Lane Keeping Aid (LKA) – active steering correction
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) – side detection for adjacent lane vehicles
  • Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) – rear sensors detecting approaching traffic when reversing
  • 360° Surround View – 11-camera parking and manoeuvring system
  • Rear HD Camera – replaces the rear window, providing all rearward visibility via interior screen
  • Road Sign Information (RSI) – camera-based sign recognition

The 11 cameras are distributed across front, sides, B-pillars, rear quarters, and tailgate. The camera-dependent rear visibility makes the Polestar 4 unique among any car on UK roads for calibration priority.

Why Polestar 4 Calibration Is Safety-Critical

Rear Camera – Your Only Rearward View

On every other car, a miscalibrated rear camera degrades your parking view. On the Polestar 4, it degrades your ability to see behind the vehicle entirely. Any tailgate, bumper, or rear body repair that affects the rear camera position requires immediate calibration before driving.

After Windscreen Replacement

The forward camera behind the windscreen powers Pilot Assist, Collision Avoidance, LKA, and RSI. Standard windscreen calibration applies – same as any modern vehicle.

After Any Body Panel Work

With 11 cameras across the body, a side panel repair can displace two or three cameras simultaneously. The Polestar 2 is simpler with 5 cameras, but the Polestar 4's distributed layout means even cosmetic work warrants a sensor check.

Polestar 4 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Polestar 4

The Polestar 4 has no rear window. All rearward visibility comes from a rear-facing camera displayed on an interior screen. If that camera is misaligned, you cannot see behind the car. No other UK-market vehicle depends this heavily on a single camera for basic driving visibility.
