SEAT Mii electric ADAS Calibration

The SEAT Mii Electric may be SEAT's smallest vehicle, but it still carries VW Group safety technology that requires professional calibration after bodywork. Built on the same platform as the VW e-Up!, the Mii Electric's City Emergency Braking and Lane Assist systems use the same sensor types as larger SEATs – just in a more compact package where even minor bumper contact can reach the sensor.

ADAS Systems on the SEAT Mii Electric

The Mii Electric (2020–2022) was SEAT's city car EV – a rebadged VW e-Up! with a focused ADAS offering:

  • City Emergency Braking – Operates at urban speeds using a front-mounted laser sensor (not radar) positioned behind the front grille badge. Detects vehicles and stationary obstacles at speeds below 30 mph.
  • Lane Assist – Windscreen camera-based lane departure warning on higher specifications.
  • High Beam Assist – Automatic headlight switching via windscreen camera.
  • Parking sensors – Front and rear ultrasonic parking guidance.

Key Mii Electric detail: Unlike larger SEATs such as the Leon or Ateca, the Mii Electric uses a laser-based City Emergency Braking sensor rather than a full radar unit. This means the calibration approach differs – the laser sensor has tighter tolerances and requires specialist equipment that general repairers often don't carry. The sensor's compact size also makes it more vulnerable to displacement during bumper work.

Mii Electric – Common Calibration Triggers

City driving bumper damage: The Mii Electric is a city car. It lives in tight parking spaces, narrow streets, and stop-start traffic where minor bumper contacts are routine. Because the City Emergency Braking sensor sits behind the front grille in a compact housing, even a low-speed nudge can shift it enough to trigger a fault. The short front overhang means less space between the bumper shell and the sensor.

Windscreen replacement: If your Mii Electric has Lane Assist, the windscreen camera needs recalibration after glass replacement. The Mii's smaller windscreen is less expensive to replace than larger SEATs, but the camera calibration step is identical and equally necessary.

EV-specific bumper removal: Battery servicing or underside inspection may require front bumper removal on the Mii Electric. If the bumper was removed and refitted during any warranty or service work, the City Emergency Braking sensor should be checked and recalibrated if displaced.

SEAT Mii electric ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the SEAT Mii electric

No. The Mii Electric uses a laser-based sensor for City Emergency Braking instead of the radar found in the Leon, Arona, and Ibiza. The calibration process is different — laser sensors require specialist alignment that most high-street repairers can't perform. See all SEAT models we calibrate.
