Škoda Karoq ADAS Calibration

If your Škoda Karoq's dashboard is showing Front Assist and ACC as unavailable after a collision repair, the body shop probably refitted the bumper without recalibrating the radar. The Karoq uses the full-size MQB platform – the same architecture as the Octavia – which means it carries more ADAS hardware than the smaller Kamiq, including optional Side Assist and Rear Traffic Alert. More sensors means more systems that can fall out of alignment after bodywork.

ADAS Systems on the Škoda Karoq

The Karoq launched in 2017 as Škoda's compact SUV, sitting between the Kamiq and Kodiaq in size. It received a significant facelift in 2022 with an expanded ADAS package:

Karoq pre-facelift (NU7, 2017–2022):

  • Front Assist – Standard AEB using front radar behind the grille badge.
  • ACC – Optional on SE L and above.
  • Lane Assist – Optional, windscreen camera-based.
  • Rear Parking Sensors – Standard.

Karoq facelift (2022+):

  • Front Assist – Standard with predictive pedestrian detection.
  • ACC – Standard on SE L and SportLine.
  • Lane Assist – Standard with active steering correction.
  • Side Assist – Blind spot monitoring using rear corner radar sensors. Available from SE L trim.
  • Rear Traffic Alert – Cross-traffic detection when reversing.
  • Travel Assist – Combined ACC + Lane Assist on SportLine and above.

The facelift Karoq has four radar sensors (front grille, two rear corners, and one rear centre on equipped models) compared to the pre-facelift's single front radar. This is a significant difference for calibration scope after bodywork.

Common Karoq ADAS Triggers

Collision Repair – Front and Rear

The Karoq's compact SUV dimensions make it a frequent car park contact vehicle. The front radar behind the grille is vulnerable to the same bumper-related misalignment as every MQB Škoda, but facelift models with Side Assist also carry rear corner sensors in the rear bumper. A rear shunt that would have been sensor-free on a pre-facelift Karoq now potentially affects blind spot monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert on newer models.

After Windscreen Replacement

Lane Assist and Travel Assist depend on the windscreen-mounted camera. After windscreen replacement, static calibration is required – the Karoq's SUV windscreen angle differs from the Octavia saloon despite sharing the same MQB platform, so calibration target placement must match the Karoq's specific geometry.

Wheel Alignment and Suspension Work

The Karoq's ride height sits between the Octavia and Kodiaq. Suspension repairs, spring replacement, or even aggressive pothole damage that alters ride height can change the angle at which the front radar sees the road. If your Karoq's ACC starts behaving erratically after suspension work – braking too early or too late – the radar angle relative to the road surface may have shifted.

Škoda Karoq ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Škoda Karoq

Similar but not identical. Both use the MQB platform, but the Kodiaq is larger and has Area View (360-degree cameras) on higher trims, which the Karoq doesn't offer. The Karoq facelift (2022+) matches the Kodiaq for Front Assist, ACC, and Side Assist capability, but with different bumper dimensions that affect radar mounting angles. Our calibration accounts for the Karoq's specific geometry.
