Smart Forfour ADAS Calibration

The Smart ForFour – the four-seat version of the W453 city car – has no camera-based or radar-based ADAS systems. Like the ForTwo, it was built on a Mercedes-Benz/Renault platform with ultrasonic parking sensors and basic stability aids. If your ForFour needs a windscreen replaced, there is no camera behind the glass that requires calibration.

What ADAS the Smart ForFour Has

The ForFour (2014–2019) carries the same minimal driver aids as its two-seat sibling:

  • Ultrasonic Parking Sensors – rear as standard, front on higher trims
  • Crosswind Assist – electronic stability intervention in crosswinds
  • Hill Start Assist – prevents rollback on inclines

No forward camera, no radar, no adaptive cruise, no AEB, no lane keeping. The ForFour shared its platform with the Renault Twingo – neither vehicle had meaningful ADAS.

When You Might Still Need Us

Parking Sensor Faults After Bumper Work

Rear bumper repairs on the ForFour can displace the ultrasonic parking sensors. If your reversing sensors stopped beeping accurately after bodywork, the sensors may need resetting or repositioning.

Confused About Which Smart You Have?

Smart has completely reinvented itself. The new Smart #1 and #3 are electric SUVs with full Level 2+ ADAS – AEB, ACC, lane keeping, and 360-degree cameras. If your Smart has these systems, it is a new-generation model and does require full calibration after repairs.
