Subaru Forester ADAS Calibration

The Forester is the most common Subaru we calibrate – EyeSight has been standard equipment since 2019, and the all-new 2025 model adds upgraded EyeSight with Emergency Driving Stop. Every Forester ADAS function runs through the stereo camera pair behind the windscreen. No front radar, no bumper sensors for cruise control or emergency braking. When the windscreen is replaced, calibration isn't optional – it's mandatory.

ADAS Systems on Your Subaru Forester

The Forester on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) has evolved its EyeSight across generations:

Fifth generation (2019–2024):

  • EyeSight Driver Assist – dual stereo cameras behind the windscreen
  • Pre-Collision Braking (PCB) – AEB for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists at city and highway speeds
  • EyeSight Adaptive Cruise Control – camera-based following distance, no radar
  • Lane Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning – drift and fatigue alerts
  • Lane Keep Assist – active lane centring
  • Lead Vehicle Start Alert – traffic movement notification
  • DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation – interior-facing camera monitoring driver attention. Separate from EyeSight cameras, calibrated independently

All-new sixth generation (2025+):

  • All of the above, plus:
  • Upgraded EyeSight – wider viewing angle, improved processing
  • Emergency Driving Stop System – if DriverFocus detects the driver is unresponsive, the vehicle can bring itself to a controlled stop
  • Advanced Lane Centering – more refined lane-centring steering

The stereo cameras sit behind the windscreen. DriverFocus is a separate interior camera above the instrument cluster. The Forester's e-BOXER hybrid drivetrain has no effect on EyeSight operation.

Why Your Subaru Forester Needs EyeSight Calibration

After Windscreen Replacement

Both EyeSight cameras are bonded to the windscreen. When the glass is replaced, the cameras must be recalibrated using Subaru-specific targets – a proprietary pattern at precise height and distance on the vehicle centreline. If your windscreen fitter said they couldn't calibrate EyeSight, our Windscreen Calibration at £199 completes the job.

"EyeSight Disabled" or Warning Light

When the Forester displays "EyeSight Disabled," every connected system goes offline simultaneously – Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. On the 2025 model, Emergency Driving Stop also deactivates. The most common cause is uncompleted calibration after windscreen work.

After Front-End Impact

Standard Forester models have no front bumper radar – minor bumper damage doesn't trigger ADAS faults. However, any impact affecting the windscreen area, A-pillars, or camera mounting bracket requires full EyeSight recalibration. If the interior DriverFocus camera was also disturbed, it needs separate attention.

DriverFocus Issues

The DriverFocus interior camera on the Forester is independent of EyeSight. If it's showing faults – not recognising the driver, or displaying warnings about driver attention – it may need recalibration separately from the EyeSight system.

Subaru Forester Calibration Pricing

Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Most Forester owners need windscreen calibration at £199 – the stereo cameras behind the windscreen are the primary sensor system. If DriverFocus also needs attention, our Full System Reset at £499 covers all systems. See all Subaru models we calibrate

Subaru Forester ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Subaru Forester

Yes — EyeSight requires Subaru-specific targets with a proprietary pattern. Generic ADAS calibration boards used for BMW, VW, or Toyota won't produce accurate results on a Subaru. We use Subaru-approved targets at all our workshops. Our ADAS error codes guide covers EyeSight-specific fault messages.
